Radar detector
Is anyone running a radar detector on these bikes, if so, where do you have it mounted?
I refuse to drive, or ride anything, without a radar detector, just too heavy a foot & hand I guess. I've had no problem mounting my Ecourts on everything. Even have one on my 150 cc scooter, but the Motard is a real chalange!
I was thinking of putting it in a rain proof housing & hiding it inside the front duck-bill fender. That would give me the added benifit of not having to take it with me when I park the bike.
I have speakers in my helmets and always just "plug in" for the audio, but I was wondering if & what others might be doing?

To answer your question though, maybe try this site:
RAM Mounting Systems, Inc.
I've used their stuff before and it's good stuff.

I second that...I use a RAM (cobbled together with screws and metal brackets) to mount my 8500 to my car windshield, on my old zx14 I had 2 mounts, one in the center of the triple tree and one on the handlebars...if you do some google searching for radar dectector mounts I'm sure you'll find them. Why would you ever ride in the rain anyways? haha, that's what covered vehicles are for

I've been trying to come up with a secure, non ghetto way to do that too
for right now I have this with a RAM arm & mount, little cleaner than a handle bar clamp, just replaces one of the handlebar clamp bolts:
TwistedThrottle.com : SW-MOTECH 1-inch ball mount for M6 mounting points - CPA.00.424.112

Lost my license a couple years ago for doing 145 on the Garden State Parkway with a buddy on my Aprilia. Cops don't realize that on bikes like these, that's the same as doing 55 in a Toyota!

I've got a question to bring this thread back on topic.
Don't they have radar-detector-detectors in the US? (I know, it's a really stupid name, but I didn't make it up. )
Police cars (and perhaps police bikes as well) in the Netherlands have these devices which can detect radar detectors in other vehicles. If it goes off and you are pulled over you have to turn in your radar detector right there and then. Plus you get a 250 euro ticket. Nowadays they sell radar detectors which are based on GPS coordinates, but it seems that they are not as effective as the old ones.

That's a good question. I don't think they do but I'm not sure.
I know that police could tell if you had a radar detector by watching the speed readout on the radar device. If you jammed on the brakes before you actually had visual of the police car, they figured you had a radar detector.
Not all states here have laws against them though. It varies from state to state and can be confusing if you're traveling.

Yes they DO Abarth, but the more sophisticated detectors like the Valentine & Escort X-50, use "stealth technology", to defeat this.
As far as I know, there are only a couple states in the US where detectors are illegal, Connecticut and Virginia.
