Motard to Multi? Somebody stop me....
As much as I love my 09 1100S I am thinking of helping it "morph" into a MTS1200. It was the first bike I wanted as I re-entered motorcycling a year ago but went for an 800GS because I do a lot of fairy aggressive off-road riding. No regrets there. Would never ride a new Multi in the same way.Bought the slightly used Hyper 6 months ago and ride primarily around LA with the occasional day of "canyon carving" . I love the bike but unless I'm "carving" I find it a bit un-comfortable and jerky to ride around town. I also plan on doing some long haul touring and as much as I know you can take a Hyper anywhere ( I have the 6.6 gallon tank) I would not consider it a serious touring machine. Buying a 3rd motorcycle would probably cost me more than the price of the bike as wifey would snap but she wont know if the black Motard turns into a black Multi
Anybody out there make the move from Motard to new Multi? Anybody out there want to buy a slamin, flawless 1100s with 5k in options and 2200 miles? . If so PM me..

I am not sure what you have for mods, but I have a 2-1 termi system with ecu and a dan kyle throttle tube and find it very smooth in town and traffic.
besides that, I don't think the Multi is going to bring out the hooligan in you like the Hyper does. Its up to you, but i would miss my hyper for sure.

I have the Termi 2-1 with ECU. Clutch pull is stiff ( I need to get a new slave cylinder). I just think that the Multi with ABS, Traction control and a slipper clutch would be a slightly easier daily driver and touring machine. I will definitely not be as much of a hooligan but maybe stay alive longer

Clutch Pull
Take off the clutch cover and take off two springs. You will never notice the difference and your left hand will love you!
PS The lovely Strada weighs at least 75 pounds more!

Someone else suggested the removal of two springs but then another mentioned that that could cause other issues like the the clutch slipping? Yes the Strada is heavier and that is why it will be a better two up touring bike I think....They probably are more similar than I think and I am going to ride a multi tomorrow.

well for sure if you are taking passengers, the hyper is not the best choice.

I have had two hypermotards and suffered the same dilemma. My solution was to keep the hyper and get the MTS as well. I am glad I did, as I feel I would have been disappointed if the MTS was my only bike.
Riding the MTS makes me appreciate the Hyper more, as it is a raw motorcycling experience uncluttered with electronic interference.
For touring longer distances the MTS is great, however replacing the rear spring seems to be essential unless you are a featherweight.

Thanks for the feedback. I do have a BMW 800GS as well as the Hyper for the off road stuff. Would it be redundant to have a Multi and a 800GS? I would never do with the Multi what I do with the GS off road and regardless of what 800GS owners say it is not a bike I would want to take on a long distance road trip. Sure it will do it and its pretty "flickable" but it is no Ducati and anything over 80 on the slap is not that great. and the bikes kind of live in 2 places geographically speaking. Hmmmm decisions decisions..

I don't mind the hyper as an everyday bike. I'll have to look into the clutch mod as the hand suffers with shorty levers.
I've found that a windscreen helps the commuting but I think it kills the looks. I would also have to look at correctly setting up the suspension before I'd consider it in multi territory. Gravel roads are a bit too harsh.
