Took the cat off my 796 and it feels faster. Might be dropping all that weight or better air flow or both. For 250 bucks its def worth it cuz it just sounds way way better, even if it didnt make the bike feel faster. Now I love driving through tunnels and under bridges

The cat also holds alot of heat in the cylinder heads and bakes the silver powder coat off of them on the earlier bikes. If you can get rid of the cat do it!

Weight savings and better flow - sounds like "win win" but I'd keep the Cat just incase...

In California - the just started doing "Visual Smog inspections" on diesel Pick-ups. Friend of mine had a big 4" exhaust - without cat - and it didn't "pass". He had to "borrow" a cat and bolt it up - go pass inspection and then swap it out. HUGE PITA.

Point being - we're one stroke of a pen from having "Bike Smog Checks" out here...can't hurt to be ready.
