14 tooth sprocket question 796 Hyper

I removed my stock sprocket. Which had two bolts holding the clip on so that the sprocket doesnt slide on the counter shaft.

The new sprocket has nowhere to bolt too and didnt come with any c clips or anything to hold the sprocket on the counter shaft.

My question is am I missing something or is this just how it goes on?

update
Here is a picture of the sprocket on

Hey man! I just posted to your Facebook thang... Something's not right. The method of retention should be the same... Maybe there's a difference between the 696, 796 and 1100. Make sure you have the right model. Did you get it from the shop(SBMS)?

I've sold my Hyper, and now I'm on a Monster 1100S. I don't really remember the sprocket configuration...

I have been waiting on my 14T sprocket to arrive from Italy through my Ducati dealer here in Bangkok.

They first ordered the 14T sprocket (Lightened Drilled out version) that is in the DP accessorie catelog for the 796, but it turned out to be the wrong sprocket for the 796 as was told to them from Italy.

So we are still waiting on the correct one, which will not be a drilled out one I am told.

is it just an issue of that clip being rotated so that it engages the teeth of the shaft or spline, then it's bolted in place? If that's the case, it seems like it would be secure. Anybody else?

if the new sprocket doesnt have two hole to install the bolts its the wrong one, bottom line. no c clip or any thing else will hold it into place

so you got the wrong one !!!!

Yes, you sure got a wrong sprocket. It must have the two tapped holes for the locking screws.

JTF740.14 fits, for sure.
