system will not let me switch from bulb to LED
i am in the process of chucking the mickey mouse mirrors and procured some mirrors with integrated LED blinkers. First of all....the mirrors came with black and red wires, while the factory blinkers have green and black. First surprise: black does not go to black. No worries, I reversed and the blinkers now work, but blink very fast.
I searched...and found out about the secret menu to switch from bulb to LED. Procedure works, with the MEM showing up after I hold the button for 3 seconds. I then turn off the key to "save" this. Unfortunately...it comes back to "bulb". Any tricks on how to get this to "keep"?
I have also bought the resistors and will try that to slow down the blinkers that way. I got the Ducati perf mirrors with integrated blinkers, and also have the LEDs in the back (the ebay solution, where just the insert is swapped out for a led one). The rear mod did not affect the blink rate, btw.
If anyone has already done the calculation for this configuration I would be much obliged. I wander if I should use one, or two resistors? But I am hoping I can do this using the LED/bulb menu first. Wrapping and concealing the resistors looks a little tricky.
regards

The mirrors you took off had LEDS in them aswell. I beleve the bulb setting is for the rear signals if you switch them to LEDS.

Is that right? Hmmmm, I assumed the change to LEDs was causing my indicators to go fast too. I didn't even check to see what was actually in the handguards. Weird though, if they actually are LEDs in the handguards why are my LED indicators going so fast? (Front only were changed)
I was just going to switch flashers, eventually. Traditional flashers require the heat build up from the resistance in the bulbs to trigger the opening and closing of the circuit. The LED flashers have a timing circuit.

Thanks for the input, guys. I might have to get the plug and play device That ducdrummer linked in here to sort out the right resistance with the leds in front and rear.
Not having had any success with the dash setting.... I just tried the inline resistor that the vendor sent me. I plugged one of them inline, and it is slowing down the blink rate, but it seems like the leds in that mirror are now anemic, or half as bright.
I am now thinking that the blink rate is not THAT fast, and i could live with it...

Definitely need a resistor like you've done. The wrong type will slow it and at the same time reduce power output to the lamps.
What color bans are on the resistor the vendor provided? That will indicate how the resistor does its work.

Is this for all Hyper models (I have an 1100 EVO)? I ask because i fitted some LED's to the rear but took them off right away because they flashed too fast.
I didn't know about this hidden menu option.
I would prefer to have the rear LED' indicators instead of the bulbs if they flash at normal speed, but I'm not interested in messing around with resistors etc.

i think mine were made by some kids in a far away country. They have no markings, but the wires are red and black. I will bug the vendor to see what the specs are. I will also try wiring both of them in, perhaps that was the issue.

contact bernard lautee @ bernard@vizi-tec.com
bernard owns a bunch of ducs (an mh900e, a hypertard, a monster, a sportclassic ...) and lives here in the south bay on the peninsula. most importantly for you ... bernard is an electrical engineer and owns a side business called vizi-tec, which makes all sorts of lighting solutions for ducatis ... and bernard has a bunch of the correct resistors for the hypertard front and rear signals.
bernard got me the correct resistors for the zeta LED front signals on my hypertard, and they work perfectly now.
ciao,
johnc

i will have to drop by, thanks. They have a nice brake pulse adapter. Love the plug and play adapter.
I obviously have an irrational fear of electrical systems.
