Help me decide!! 796 vs Evo SP?
Hey all,
I've been lurking around the board for a while and I've decided I'm ready to get motarded :P
I have a buyer for my '07 Speed Triple which will put $8k in my pocket, plus whatever else I can scrounge together and I'm trying to decide between the following:
2010 Ducati Hypermotard 796
OR
Used 2010 DUCATI HYPERMOTARD 1100 EVO SP Motorcycle For Sale | WHITBY ON
I've only rode a 796 with Termi 2-1 pipe and I had a blast! I like the thought of the lighter 796 and a lower cc for insurance and gas mileage, but I worry I will miss the oomph of my 1050cc Triumph. Though, I worry the SP might be a little TOO "track" for a daily rider around town and the local back roads... Also, I'm 6'2" with long legs so I think I might fit the SP better. Any feedback would me a TON of help as I'm hoping to get this locked down by the end of the month.
Thanks people,
HB

More is better, always.
Theres quite a few EVO SP on Craigslist across the country, and quite a few left overs at the dealers, you should be ale to find a better deal than $15K.

I agree...$15k is bit steep.

agreed. You can get a new one OTD for close to that, although it will not have the 2-1 Termi's.

I considered that bike when I bought my 796 last month...I ended up going for a new 0 mile 2010.
It cost me roughly $2000 more OTD for the new 796 than the used one in Vancouver.
I traded a little extra cash for 2 yrs warranty, no miles, being original owner and no aftermarket pipes.
That bike has been on craigslist for awhile...not sure there is much of a used market for the little tard in BC. You might be able to swing a decent deal on it

Yeah I've got him down to $8600+tax. Did you consider an 1100 over the 796 at any point? Why did you decide on the 796?
I should add, I can get a brand new 2010 796 with a termi in Edmonton for $13,800 out the door...

Never considered the 1100...The 796 did what i wanted it to do...it's simple, light and fun on the street. It has enough power to be entertaining on a straight stretch and it's completely chuck-able in the corners.
I have an 08 gsxr 750 that has way more power than I could use on the street at this point, same with my 585 hp GT500.
We have draconian speeding laws right now in BC. While having more power and speed is cool...it's really becoming pointless the way I ride and drive these days. As a matter of fact, I'm having so much fun on the "under powered" 796 that I'm contemplating selling the gix
BTW...With the 12% sales tax/freight/pdi I was 12300 OTD
