Zeta Armor handguards fitment and spacing

Hey all,

I fitted my Zeta Armor handguards which I had left over from my Husky. Surprisingly they donīt quite clear the master cylinders on both sides when aligned straight with them. Also I used to have them mounted on a Magura SX 28.6mm bar, now the inner mounting clamps donīt fit the Ducati bar. I measured the Ducati bar and itīs between 25 and 26mm where the clamps sit. I know thereīs another clamp kit available from Zeta, but those are for 22mm bars.

What to do?

freezer, donīt you run Zeta bars on your Hyper?

Zeta makes an extension style clamp.

Last item on this page - ZETA RACING -

They have it in 2 sizes, the smaller stock HM handlebar size and the oversize bars (i.e. your Maguras) commonly used on dirtbikes.

Hope that helps!

Hi foxracing, thanks for the reply!

That would leave the retaining bolt which goes into the side of the bar a little bent. Not the cleanest of options, no?

Just to clarify, I donīt run a Magura bar, I have the stock Hypermotard bar. Does the 22mm clamp fit?

What we did was put the alu handguard bar in a vice and bend it so it "opens" up slightly wider.

Yup the stock HM bar is 7/8" diameter.

he beat me to it. I also had to bend the end of the guard so it would fit a bit more straight

I found a tree in my front yard put the handguard bar in the crotch of a thick tree branch and bent it! just like a real Redneck! I "opened" it up so the longer front clamp will now fit. I knew bending it wasn't going to be a problem because the handguard bar is made from semi soft "malleable aluminum" and now the handguard bar fits well on the handlebar, like it should.
I also had to remove & reinstall my Fabbri windshield to install the front bar clamps, and just like (typhon) said, I had to put tape under the switchgear to help it tighten on the handlebar, the LED lights went in fine with NO filing, and are only half as bright as stock as they are small, and because of my Slick50 rear LEDs my turn signals now blink too fast. But in the end, after the 2 1/2 Hr pain in the butt ordeal, it turned out nice & I like it. Aloha Alex

PS: a side benefit of the bar conversion is that because of being able to move my controls around, (no locating tits) I can get my conventional mirrors out farther and I can see behind me better than ever before!

Old post of mine.... Aloha Alex

Thanks all for the advice.

Are there any equally affordable handguards that fit straight onto the HYM handlebar?

I went and ordered the extension kit with 22mm clamps, and guess what, they donīt fit...

So neither the 28.6 clamps nor the 22mm clamps fit the stock 08 handle bars. Fucking Ducati...

I dug out a Pro Taper handlebar from my basement. Itīs a bit narrower than the HYM handlebar, but the ZETAs fit.

This shit can be so annoying. Why does everything have to be genuine Ducati? Argh...

Do you have bar end weights on your bars? I had a 2008 Hypermotard all I did was go to the longer "posts" to clear the master cylinders. The 796 does have 7/8th bars, but, not the 1100.
