If you were thinking about going with intake stacks

Will probably get severally flamed for this post, but thought I would save some of you guys the hassle and money. This past Winter, I talked with Mark at the DucShop in Georgia about going with an open air element setup on my 08' 1100s. He's a very knowledgable person when discussing what to do. Went ahead and ordered up this DucShop intake and just today, had the first chance to take the bike out for a longer ride....
Yuck!!!! The intake howl is beyond tolerable at anything over 5 grand. A perfect example is that I can no longer hear my Termignoni exhaust over the howling....Bike also revs really quick, but am thinking the noise more than outweighs the performance gain for spirited street riding. Plus, it gave me signs of backfiring on more than one occasion. This feels and sounds lean..
Anyway, if you've been thinking about ordering up a set of these open filter setups, please consider what you hope to gain....
One last point, I think I lost some of the sweet bottom-end torgue when I was running with the filters...
Any yes, I already have returned the bike back to the OEM filter box with the Ducati Performance filter....Good enough for me!!
Pat

the reason for the loss in power is you never had it tuned after you added the stacks.
i just added mine and loss power on low end and ran funny, but i knew it would.after that dynojet dyno'ed the bike and made a map for the stacks with extra fuel and now it pulls harder all the way across the board. the only thing i can give you is yes the stacks are now louder the my exhaust.but i like it.some might not. so if you want the real power the stacks offer you need a custom map or tune to match what you just added

good luck with either way you go

Quicker revving engine +1
Intake howl +2

maybe you need a louder exhaust! lol

I have the ducshop stacks and sc 2-1 without baffles and while you can hear the intake the exhaust not far overpowers it!

Sorry you didnt like them, thats what makes this world a special place.
I am HUGE advocate of the Ducshop stacks!!! I had them on my first hyper (RIP) and on my second.
I would not consider owning a hyper without those stacks!!!
