Powercommander 5 for HM 796 FACTS
I talked at length today to Jay at Powercommander and these are the facts for our Hyper 796 application.
There is no such a thing as a race or an off road PC 5 for our bikes
There is only one part number for a PC 5 for our HM 796...which is 14-008.
It comes with an optimzer {seperate box} that intereupts the O2 sensor readings for the closed loop part of the mapping. It adjusts the closed loop map to a steady 13.2-13.4 a/f ratio to get rid of that annoying low rpm throttle leanness. The main PC5 box provides the close to correct as possible mapping for the upper rpm range. There are now 5 maps available from Powercommander and you'll need to select the map that matches your mods. There is also a STOCK map which i intend to use for a while until i get a decent exhaust can.
Hope that finally clears up all the bad info we have been getting on the forum about being able to buy a race or off road PC5.

buzz wrong answer!!!
dusty is head R&D and the call it race cause its not street legal maps as it by passes EPA emissions rules. why you insist on this is beyond me. i was there in person and had a talk with him, and be both looked at each other and said its for race right! if you get what i mean.
just so you understand you cant mess with stock mapping one bit at all. thats why ducati has the bikes running so crappy as they do just to get them street legal to pass emissions.
so stop looking like a ass and calling people names(dave) ,getting pissed every time you dont here what you want to hear.just get educated .
and just so you get it , once you put on a pc5 your bike is illegal for road use! and your warranty can be voided for doing so. its illegal to mess with any thing dealing with EPA standards.read your manual smart ass!!

Dude...you were the one that said to order the race PC5. THAT'S THE ONLY ONE THEY SELL....so why ask for a RACE PC5? It implies that they sell two different PC5's for our bikes....which they don't.
Maybe Dusty speaks English and you don't...i dunno.

BAD INFO RIGHT HERE>
This is what you said a montha ago.>
remember on there site they sell two models, on is called street legal(EPA crap) and on is a race map.under EPA laws they cant adjust closed loop area, now on a race map they can do anything you want. I'm guessing that because they do so many bikes they cant post all info on every bike but you can always call there tech dept. i worked with dusty (Vegas office cause they have two locations)(decreasing Dave's bud) he runs R&D and this man knows his shit!!!
if you look at the pic i took of the A/F ratios the blue line is stock and you can see how lean it is around 4500 to 6500 rpms, then look at the red line and its perfectly flat and in the right area for fueling.
so again yes they can adjust the closed loop area with pc5 . after you get a map you can also adjust it your self to add or change shit, but I'm to dumb to mess with it as i think they know better then me after dynoing it and able to monitor A/F ratios . thats the key!!
There are no TWO MODELS.....and that is the source of all this bad information. They only sell ONE model PC5 for our 796.

Dude....you are trying to not look retarded by saying the the EX model is available for our 796 ...which it is not. We were NEVER discussing the EX model in this thread or any other. I specifically asked YOU if there were TWO DIFFERENT PC 5 models....and you said there were. You said to order the race/off road version. You confused everyone reading that thread by saying that there were two diffent PC5's for our 796. You were wrong. I can read just fine. You should try again for your GED.

they also sell a auto tune add on that will map the bike without dyno tuning to any set A/F ratio you pick, but it cost around 400 extra i think.
the PC5 can run a quick shifter also, its basically i little computer
