K&N high flow air filters, anyone use them or just a waste of cash?

So I was thinking about getting a K&N high flow air filter but not sure if its worth the money and if it increases performance and if it makes the bike sound better. I put 1 in my car and it sounds amazing but no noticeable power increase. I think Im even wasting more gas cuz I keep revving up cuz I love the sound so much. Anyone have one of these installed on their hyper?

I have a BMC, about the same as a K&N or DNA gauze filter, they are performance filters and do flow more air & help the power, but probably DO NOT filter the air quite as well as a paper filter, no matter what these companies say.

On the other hand they can make the bike rev faster than stock, so you may want to "short" shift the bike to make sure you don't over rev it, say about 4500 rpm. Aloha Alex

Yes I run them on my ducatis, and they seem to run fine but I would avoid any dust as they do not filter as well as standard. Which is not often a problem when you are always at the head of the pack.
If you read the fine print on these filters they do not recommend use in dual sport or off road motorcycles.

I have these but haven't installed them yet. Wondering if they are a direct swap in or if they are a new shape requiring fitment, etc.

I have one and really didn't notice much in performance or sound. What I did notice was how ridiculously hard they are to install. Not their fault, though. It'd be the same with any air filter hiding under the gas tank...

I have a BCM and i think the question you need to ask your self is do u want a aftermarket airfilter in the stock air box or spend the coin on a larger air box OR what i normally do is remove the entire air box and go with pod filters. and while I have had all three types of options, for normal use (aggressive street) pod filter improve air flow from stock and use the KISS rule. making the bike easier to work on your self.

I dont normally notice a difference when just installing a air filter. But that being said, it is essential to have one along with a map or brain change and exhaust set up.

And if the attached pic in the first post is what you are trying to install. the answer is yes it is a straight drop in replacement.
