Cortech saddle bag question

Getting the bike packed up for a 5-6 day road trip and have a question for anybody using cortech saddle bags on a hyper. When I hooked the bags onto the bike it looked like the bag would hit the stock exhaust pipe and possibly burn through.

I ended up taking the bags of the hyper and loaded them onto the gsxr last night.

Really wanted tot take the hyper, so I figured I'd see what I could fashion to space the bag out and away from the exhaust.

Anyone else run the bags and have this issue? If so how did you end up fixing or dealing with it?

Thanks!

What I ended up with

pushing the bag aside to show the bracket a little better...it seems to work...so far

Had the exact same problem with similar Nelson-Rigg bags. I think your bracket there may help a lot. I ended up wrapping the exhaust with some of that exhaust wrap stuff (you can find in any autoparts stores), getting the heat resistant backer pads for the bags (Nelson Rigg CL-HSP Saddlebag Heat Shield Pads), AND strapping the tops of the two bags together across the top of the bike with some utility straps from REI. The tops of the bags have metal loops that an optional shoulder strap connects to so I just ran the REI straps across the bike from one to another to suspend the bags a little better. They tended to bear all their weight on the built-in straps otherwise and would sag down to the pipe when really loaded.

Burned a slight hole first layer of the backer after a couple of thousand miles on that trip but no damage to bag or contents.

I guess I had better take a good look at mine.

I am making the MotoGP trip in a few weeks and I didn't think that I would have a problem with the bags, until you guys said something.

I received a tailbag as a gift and attempted to put a tail bag on my motard. The fitting didnt work out too well. Instead of going around bumping testing and spending money on things that doesnt work with the bike. I am contemplating of buying the ducati rack with tail bag instead. Has anyone used the dp combination before? is it good?

If you're planning on loading down the right side bag I'd certainly look into it as it'll sag plenty. If you can come up with some way of attaching straps over the top between the two bags that'll help a lot.
