Afam quick change Sprocket and chain tension help
This is my 5th chainand sprocket kit I have installed and really never had a problem.
SO when the wheel rotates the chain tension will get loose then tight then loose then tight?? What would cause this?? I torqued down the all the sprocket bolts too?? Im soo pissed about this after spending $300 plus on this kit.
Can those 5 little cush drive things go bad? The hyper only has 5500miles on it!
Thanks so much

That's funny, I seem to a little of the same problem, just noticed it last weekend, mine's not real bad thou, but I can see the sprocket "move" front to back when I look at the sprocket teeth tip in relation to the fixed swingarm. I would try to move the chain to a different spot on the rear sprocket & see if it gets any better. Aloha Alex

yea mine isnt that bad but def not good. I wonder if I loosen all the sprocket bolts and spin the wheel. Then re torque?? This shouldnt be that off since it is a single sided swinger!

Ok well I tried everything and it still goes from a loose good feeling chain to then a pretty tight chain when just turning the wheel. Is this normal at all?
Thanks

I made sure the sprocket was triple checked with the proper torque settings and it's not bent. I asked the Sprocket Center and they said it could be a worn cush drive or etc.. Any help or ideas would be great!
Thanks
Richie

Do you see the sprocket move front to back when you spin the rear wheel?
If not, its possible that the chain is bad. Aloha Alex

OH NO Dave please dont tell me that!! I got the 520 conversion and DID ERV3 chain. I doubt the chain is bent ITS BRAND NEW...
I did jerry rig a piece of metal to touch the sprocket and then I spun the wheel and the sprocket never moved the metal away like it would if it had a slight bend. I want to ride it so bad what else do you guys think it could be? This is so frustrating. This is not my first chain install and I thought with a single sided swing arm it would be easy!
08 Hyper what do you mean seeing the sprocket move back and forth? You mean side to side? I can move the sprocket a lil from side to side by hand and I think i see the sprocket move just a tad when I spin the wheel..

I mean front to back, not side to side, when I look at the sprocket teeth tip, and look at the swingarm where the sprocket come closest to, I can see where my sprocket slightly moves front to back, causing the chain to get tight & loose. (slightly) I've got 6000mi+ now so its a little late for me to do anything about it. I'll take apart everything when I replace the chain at the 10,000 mile mark, and see what I find. Aloha Alex
