I was thinking that would be a FUN bike to have, with the LC 4 valve 1200cc twin engine, enough to blow the Hyper away in a straight away.
The problem I see with the Aprilla is the weight, its on the heavy side, & has a small gas tank like the Hyper, many factory parts can be hard to get, (you'll probably have to order everything) and a lack of aftermarket parts, as well as not that many shops that have experience with them.
Other than that I thinks its gonna be a great bike! Aloha Alex

Nice beast, reckon it would be bucket loads of fun Only hope that Aprilia have the fueling for this one sorted. My wife has a 750 Shiver and it really suffers from lean fueling when running on closed loop, obviously to get it past EU3 restrictions. Unfortunately no after market ecu or modification facilility available..

Back when I had my KTM 950SM i tried the Aprilia 750 version and was very disappointed.
The 750 engine was supposed to have as much power as my KTM but frankly; that was bullshit and the power band was about a millimetre wide.
Handling was OK but again wasn't a match for the KTM with its White Power suspension. The brochure writers at Aprilia are far better than the guys who design the bikes.
As for the 1200: overweight and underpowered but with a promo line that would make you think it was revolutionary. I very much doubt it.

I have not seen one in the flesh yet but I see no reason to choose the Doso12 over the KTM 990SMR.
SMR is a bit bigger than the Hyper but provides more HP up top which seems to be the only downfall of the Hyper, especially on the track.
If the Ape had come in closer to 400lbs and a dealer/parts were in full supply, Piaggio might have a winner.
Ape is 457lbs, KTM SMR is 415lbs and Hyper is 390lbs.
Ape is 130hp, KTM SMR is 115hp and Hyper Evo is 95hp

I'm sorry but every aprilia has problems, they dont make a very reliable bike.
i have owned one and was a big piece of shit(SVX).im still a member of the af1 fourms and under every bike dorso,rsv4,sxv all of them have problems and lack of reliable and stupid issues that i would never own one again. i personally think the rsv4 is one of the best bikes out for power and cornering but has to many issues that make it crap.

+1
Another issue for the Dorsoduro is that those with long legs will find the tank in the way of their knees. I've heard it's worse on the 1200.
