1st Trackday on Hyper
First trackday at PIR a week ago, never taken the duc on the track..figured it wouldn't be any fun on the mile long straight and getting straffed by full on race replica's might get old. I have an RC51 for trackdays but I did it anyway and couldn't believe how much fun the bike was. I fitted Monster folding footpegs but still had issues with dragging. Wore down and bent rear brake pedal, scraped bottom of headpipe and wore through two sets of toe sliders, with knee down. I'm thinking of going for Woodcraft rearsets. The stock brake pedal is a one piece unit so i had to drill out the riveted end piece with rubber cover and made a replaceable shorter unit for trackdays..pretty cheap and much simpler than buying a $100 new brake pedal assembly. Not great but will work in the short term.
I only saw around 130mph or so on the straight but who cares when you can pass everyone at will in the corners, on the outside.
When i came in after the last session, the track marshal followed me in (uh oh) and shook his head, gave me a fistbump and said.." I can tell this ain't your first rodeo son.."....priceless.

So is this the reason they made the EVO a bit higher in terms of ground clearance? I've heard draggin pegs and such was a problem on the hyper.

Good job! Impressing the marshals doesn't usually happen.

Hi Endoz, thanks a lot for sharing your experience!
We´re going racing in July but it´s going to be the first outing with the Hypermotard. Seems like we have to work something out regarding the footpegs. I researched on aftermarket parts but the Woodcraft stuff is 600$, I just can´t justify spending that amount on footpegs.
Looks like you had major fun anyway
Do you have a pic of the scrubbed exhaust part?

IMHO thats the main thing wrong with the std Hyper at the track, ground clearance, If fact I ruined a brand new pair of boots the first time I did a track day.
I HAD TO jack up my rear end with the link to maximum, went with heavier springs front & rear, got rearsets, and STILL drag bike parts, but at least now it will lean. And it is so much fun stomping the tar out of the Superbikes in the turns! Aloha Alex

You should have a blast. I believe someone said there are ducati performance
(?) footpeg risers for around $150? There's a thread here somewhat recently
about peg alternatives. Check my posts, i commented on it. I don't know if
they raise the pedals though. I'm with you, even $600 seems like a lot these
days, thats the $$ equivalent of three trackdays here.
I don't have pics of the exhaust, there is a 6" strip adjacent to the brake
pedal end that took some abuse and it only touched down a few times when i
would square off a corner and really compress the suspension. If your lines are smooth the header doesn't touch down.

Thanks, I think the black looks mean as well...
I bought the Rev'it to replace an older alpinestars and saw a video review on Revzilla. That sold me, same one Randy DePuniet wears, no difference apparantly, and he crashes weekly so I figure its good to go!
It fits even a shorter, stockier guy like me well, flows a lot of air and has really impressive features, fit and finish for the $$. I'll let you know how it holds up if I sample pavement!

Great riding man!
My brake pedal looks exactly the same. I managed to get rid of some dragging by better body-positionning, but it's still a problem. We have a concrete track up here and traction is totally mental. last week, my shifter caught an expansion joint and folded underneath the footpeg.
