Looking for advice

Hi all,

I am the proud owner of a MTS1200S and am looking for a good Ducati for my sweetheart. She tried out the monster and found it leaned to far for her. I'm thinking the hyper with it's more upright postion might work out splendid for her. Not to mention I could cruise around on while she is not and I don't want to bust out the big ol MTS. Just looking for comfort, mileage per tank, and any other info you might find helpful i.e. any downfalls of the bike. When I get home I'm going to take her to the local Duc shop to check it out. Thanks in advance for the info especially from the lady Hyper riders!!

Tom

as long as she's not too short, why not?!?!

My fiance, who's 5'4" jumped on mine and took it around the block awhile back. She said she felt way too uncomfortable at stops. She then test rode the 796 and pretty much the same thing.

A 796 might be just the ticket for her and fun for you as a good contrast from the MTS.

Thanks for all the responses especially the video. Definitely interesting to see a woman's POV.

Agree, I think it would be hard to find a better fit than the 796. I'm trying to get my girlfriend to get one myself.

you need to be careful. My MTS 1200 main function today is to remind me how much more fun I have on my Hyper!

Lol minus, I agree this is dangerous territory. However you just can't beat the MTS for the miles I ride.

(1100S) IMO downfalls:
Fuel tank--I can only get about 120 miles. This could have changed on the model you are considering.
Throttle--I didn't like the abrupt response on the bottom end. For me it was very jumpy in parking lots, so I installed a new disc at the TBs and love it now.
Seat--I still don't know how there can be such a difference in the stock pine plank and the other seats. This could have improved on your model as well but I doubt it.
Forks--they are ok I guess.
Seat height--I'd say this would be the biggest challenge for her. But on the flip side, my guess is that once she gets used to the bike, she'll feel more in control with it than anything she's ever ridden. If you like your money, don't drop it in the parking lot on those bars.

Mine has been bulletproof so far and I like riding it more each time. And btw, I hated that video...I kept looking for the buick to come through the intersection and take her out---she wasn't looking at the oncoming when she blasted through each light. Movie magic.

Seems like more and more of the "girls" are "choosing" to ride big heavy H.D.'s.
Guess that makes FLH's and Wide Glides girls bikes too...
