Belt tension question

I just installed the Speedy Moto belt covers. In doing so, I noticed the belts are very loose. I can actually slide them back and forth on the pulleys. Is this normal? Bike only has 3,700 miles.

Lots of posts on the tensioning..
4or 5 mm allen wrench between thebelt and pulley..
What year bike how has it been rode?
they are good for 2 years says the manual I think , more if taken care of ...
To do properly by the book you twang them like a guitar string too get the proper note..

New is always a good thing ....then no worries....

2008 and don't know how it was ridden previously. It actually is 2,700 miles, not 3,700. Thanks for the reply. I watched a video on using the mic method. Looks like a lot of averaging is required to achieve a baseline reading.

I think there is a differnt reading, for a new belt and an old belt. most just used the allen wrench method between the belt an idler pulley . I think .. there is some posts on the procedure . Do a search...
If you get the pros to do it they can have a looksee in there and make sure all is ok, like thr bearings are all good...
A broken belt can do major damage ...not to scare you but ..
