Weak Rear Brake?

Can you lock the rear wheel on your HM?

I don't want to discuss if this is a good idea or not, or start a braking technique thread, the Hyper is my first bike and I noticed the rear brake is way weaker than I would have expected.

David.

Bleed the line. You should be able to lock it up no problem. I have noticed that the rear brake on mine though is softer in feel then my buddy's 08 gsxr750...

+1 maybe even the master, I am a heavy rear brake user, & mine works fine, try using other mfg brake pads, some will work better than others. Aloha Alex

Well from your board name...and your NEWB-ness.....i'd say the rear brake is the least of your problems. 70% of braking on ANY motorcycle comes from the FRONT brake. Saying that you "noticed" the brake is weaker is pretty funny. What are you comparing it to?

i have noticed the hyper like some other Italian bikes run the rear brake line the same height as the master and if not bleed right will have air in the line.
some aprilia have the same issue. a vacuum bleeder will fix this or take off the rear brake to bleed it so its lower then the master, use a thin piece of wood the same thickness as thickness as the rotor and your fine

Considering it's your first bike....
All bikes have way less braking power on the rear wheel. When you apply brakes, weight transfers to the front wheel.
Heavier cruisers will have better rear braking power than a lightweight bike because more weight of the bike is further back in comparison to sportier bikes and add the fact that they just plain weigh more.
More weight on the tyre, more braking power.
