Valve guides...

I just removed my heads to install the DP cams and see at the same time if I could improve the flow of my heads by matching the intake & exhaust. Not much that I could do, I had no step or anything that could be smooth out. I wonder if a porting could give me some gain???

Unfortunatly I found worn out valve guides at only 12 000 Km, is this normal?

Apparently it is a weak spot. The 1100's are supposed to be better than the 1000's. Had mine checked at 9 000 and they were fine. Look up mbp performance, they're in Pointe-Claire, very competent and reasonnably priced. Btw, we'll be at ICAR this saturday, interested?

It was already in my plan to go at Icar this week end just to tease me a bit until I get my bike back. I will look for an Hypermotard in the pit. My bike is already with Doctor Guy Martin to do the guides!

I have Guy Martin's guide. I had him installed them last summer for my 12.000km maintenance.
The whole thing, complete mainetenance including valve clearance and his guides cost me 700$ under the table.
He does not have a VDST to clear the maintenance key on the dashboard tho.

The bike is runnnig great , got 20.000km now.
I'm due for new set of timings belt, which I will do myself soon, and will check at the same time if his guides are still in a good shape.

Porting... been talking with Guy Martin a lot about that.
Ask him about his Testarosso heads.
2400$, for a complete porting job, including labor to take the heads off, do the porting, install a new set of racing cams, degree them, and his red (or black) powedercoating.
The 1100DS engine does not require rerouting the oil flow.

He told me he got about 110rwhp with an old 2v air cooled.
If you want to go this way, he is also offering some balancing crank job and Microtec ECU to get the best out of such a setup.

Anyway, he's a guru. Last time I was there I briefly talk about the idea to implant a Testastretta engine in the Hyper frame. I saw sparkle in his eyes. He's great

Been to Guy's in april for a set of new belts and a DP racing seat. He does have the VDST now, he cleared the maintenace icon off my dash and finetuned my idle mixture.
