DP disc lock

Does anyone have any feedback on the DP disc lock with alarm? Solid piece? Don't waste your time?

There are more affordable disc lock in the market. Any particular reason for choosing ducati one?

I haven't had any experience with the above disc lock but DO NOT get a Xena Alarmed Disc Lock. I can personally attest that the stories of them going off for no reason at all in the middle of the night are true! Them saying to try putting it at different positions on the disc doesn't stop it happening either.

Oh, and get something to go on the handlebars to remind you there's a disc lock on. I haven't done it myself but have heard plenty of stories of people trying to ride off having forgotten to remove the disc lock first. Doh

Why bother with one at all? On a 950lb Harley, they may keep less-determined thieves from picking it up and carrying it off, but a 400lb Hyper could be thrown in a van by 2 people in about 10 seconds.

The danger they pose to the rider forgetting to remove them wouldn't be worth it either.

I'd like to chain the bike to something, but the only chain that can't be cut easily weighs too much to carry around.

Ever wonder how much money people and businesses spend just to keep a**holes from taking their stuff?

My bike is parked in an underground garage where you can't take a van. The alarm would wake everyone in this building up in seconds and is the main reason I'm considering this lock.

these things are all deterents to thievery. You could have a group of ninjas pulling guard duty 24-7 and someone could steal it if they really wanted it. Crimes are often of opportunity. If you have the bars locked and a disc lock and you are parked in a populated area under a street light, your chances of the bike being stolen are much less.

I bought my disc lock at walmart for $20 and it looks identical to the DP one sans the alarm.

Ya, I realize there are many disc locks significantly cheaper than the DP one - but most of them don't have the alarm which is what I'm really interested in. I've heard some not so great stories about the cheaper locks with alarms, like the alarm going off randomly or not at all. So it doesn't seem like a lot of folks here actually have the DP lock. Does anyone at least know someone who's tried it? A little hearsay would work too.

Give him a break, the words are probably all upside-down to him.
