Sprocket change on 1100 EVO???

So I have been doing some reading and noticed a lot of guys are going up a tooth or two on the rear or -1 in the front. But I also did catch that the EVO has 41 teeth in the rear rather then 42 teeth as the previous model, both in stock form

Ive always done the front sprocket on all my sport bikes which translates to about + 2 - 2 1/2 in the rear. My concern is that I dont want to have 1st so short it will feel like a tractor trailer making 1st very very short.

So has anybody gone with a tooth or two in the rear on the EVO?
Im debating between +2 or +1 in the rear, but im afraid that +1 isn't gonna make that big of a difference but on the other hand im afraid +2 will make 1st very short.

Any experience as far as 1st with the +2 set up.

Fawking Ducatis, I would get both 42 and 43 if they wernt $150 bucks a pop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also changed front sprocket -1 or + 2 on my previus bikes ..But on this one i will use stock , if a should shange anything i would go down -1or-2 in rear .

It pulls like a traktor in first 3 gears anyway

I ride mostly in the city and do occasional Sunday trips to the mountains. So I mostly want a smoother bike at lower speeds but dont want to use 1st only to make the bike start moving on shift immediately.
I also noticed that on this bike downshifting from 6th to 5th, 5th to 4th and 4th to 3rd its quite smooth and predictable, but when downshifting from 3rd to 2nd or 2nd to 1st it not, there seems to be a lot more engine braking then in the upper gears. So I was thinking that if I change the rear sprocket I would be using higher gears more often and help ease the hard engine braking I experience in the lowers.

1 tooth in the front is equal to 3 in the rear

1 tooth on the front is approx 3 on the back, not exactly but very close.

I'm running a 15/43. 1st is fine & I can now hit redline in 6th

Both the Hyper 08/09 and the 11EVO have the same trans

Ducati put a 41 rear on the EVO because the stock motor now makes more power and can pull the gearing easier and for noise emissions.

I would install +2 on the back if you want to feel it. Aloha Alex
