Kick stand shut off not working and almost F*#KED me up today
So I had just stopped to top up my gas this morning and left gas station on to the highway. Leaned right on the ramp the left then almost lost it with a transport behind me. Pulled off where there was basically no shoulder to put it up. Very close call. This was my second time on the bike this season so I guess it just slipped my mind but what i need to ask you guys is what do I gotta do to get this kick stand issue fixed? Any Ideas other then always ride with your stand up lol.

Is this a new bike? Did someone bypass the kickstand safety switch? Bike should not run when you put it in gear with the kick stand down.
Theres a used one up on ebay

You could also remove the stay to be on the safe side...

Good post...i forgot about that. His bike must be altered or broken. You can't ride off with the sidestand down.

I did that on a Z1 Kawasaki in 1976 while in Japan (driving on the left). Went into a smooth left hand sweeper and the stand shot me into the right lane straight at oncoming traffic. Not sure that bike ever had the interlocking device, but your Hyper should have... I'd get that fixed.

I don't know that its broke, my new one does the same thing 2010 796. No shut off with stand down in gear, really not a good thing. I'll watch this thread to see if you find out something, if I do, I'll post up.
EDIT:
Manual says side stand must be up to be put in gear.
"The sidestand safety circuit is protected by a 3 A fuse located alongside the battery" I'm going to check mine.

Yeah, those suicide-stands from the 90's look pretty good now, aye?

Im speaking out of ignorance... would someone remove the fuse and the kickstand if they were doing a track day, in order to avoid an fault light?

It all depends if it is a normally open circuit or not.
I believe, most are normally closed. Meaning that when the stand is up, the switch is pushed in and contact is made, allowing the current through to enable the "run circuit".
When the stand is down, or in your case, when the fuse is out, the circuit is not complete and the bike won't run.
I have had these fail before on the road, plus having experience prepping racebikes, and I have always had to connect the two wires to make contact and fool the circuit into thinking that the stand is on the bike and in the up position.
But hey, Ducati has done some crazy things with their electrical as we have seen in the past, so who knows....

Something that has happened more times than I care to admit, is having the engine shut-off when I put it in gear. D'OH
Thank goodness for safety devices
