Odometer reset after winter storage :(

Hello all!

New to this forum and I've tried the search function but couldnt find an answer to this.

I've had my hypermotard in winter storage since last summer and I've had the battery disconnected from the bike and charged over winter. Now yesterday when I put the battery back in and started it up, she started up all good no warnings or anything in the dash.
BUT when I look at the total mileage it says zero??? I figured I gotta be stupid so I took a little drive came back and the total mileage is now showing the same as the trip meter

I thought you werent able to reset the odometer at all and that it was stored permanently?? Anyone know if you can get it back somehow because I am selling it and the guy is coming to look at it on sunday.

It's supposed to say 4800 Kilometres instead of 48

Anyone have any clue how I can fix this?
Any help would be appreciated!!

Are you looking at the trip meter? My battery was disconnect through out the winter w/no mileage reading issues. I have never heard of a bike losing it miles like that.

I agree. Never heard of one resetting. It would go against laws and common sense. One thing I noticed after mine sat for awhile... the button that changes from one function to another tends to either send no signal or might send multiple signals. So when you push to go to the odometer it might just go twice and show the trip setting again.

Just a thought as I don't think there's any way in hell it's resetting the total miles...

Yea exactly I've gone through the workshop manual and that states as well that the odometer is stored permanently and can not be reset!
I've called 2 dealers here and they have never heard of it either but they forwarded the issue to Ducati's technicians and see what they say.

I've had 4 Ducatis before this one and this has never happened to me either so I'm at loss of words and no clue what to do. I figure that you might be able to use the diagnostic tool to perhaps extract the information so the buyer knows I'm not trying to screw him over.

And about the pushing the button and it jumps over the odometer, yea I figured that too but after the 48km it says TOT so I'm guessing until I hear from Ducati I cant do much else.

You are lucky! I wish that it would be possible to get a new motorcycle each year.
