should I go Hyper?
hey guys, I currently have an 08 Yamaha R6S. Its a great bike, but Im getting sick of the uncomfortable riding position which all superbikes have. I cant go long distance without getting tired. Im seriously considering the Hyper 796 in Matte black. I like the supermoto style and more upright riding position. I was just curious how you guys with the 796 like your bikes? I was also wondering how they compare to a 600cc super bike power wise? Thanks in advance

Love love my bike. For what it cost me to buy and to put on the road i couldn't be happier (insurance n stuff). Very comfortable bike to ride on and I base that opinion from riding my buddies ZX6 and GSXR's. There is 1 issue with the bike though. My buddies have faster bikes then me and sometimes that pissses me off (gsxr 1000, R1, ZX6, Triumph Daytona). If I had the money maybe I would of bought the 1100 and would be able to keep up a little better. One cool this is I take my bike anywhere (in the city and up to the cottage) and I find parking better as i can ride between and over concrete curbs. I have never ridden an HM 1100 but I hear its crazy powerful but a little harder to ride in the city for a less experienced rider such as me. Try both weigh the costs then decide but its the perfect style of bike for me.

Thanks for the response. Im most likely going with the 796. The 1100 is a little too expensive, plus I like the lower seat height on the 796. I know its not going to be as fast as a superbike, but the comfort level will totally make up for it. I love the fact that its a rare bike. Most bikes you see on the road are either Harleys or Gixxer type bikes. This will stand out and turn heads

I have ridden everything that is outthere, except a drag bike with a Jet Engine, and I tell you this, the Hyper is the most fun bike I have ever ridden on the roads. Is like riding a powerfull Dirt Bike, but legally around town !!!
I simply can not stop riding this bike, is a blast !!!
The only withdraw is the very crappy low rpm ride, and perhaps the very crapy "clunka-clunka" clutch-sound that Ducati ( and many Ducati fans, they even hear music coming out of the clutch ) want to keep on this beautiful and well engineered bikes.
I once hit a dog at exactly 65 mph on a 900SS Ducati I had, and it`s unvelievable how sturdy this bikes are, that after jumping a couple of feet up and literally cutting the poor dog in half, the bike only suffered from a broken fairing fastener under the engine. I did not even fall.
Get a Hyper, a pair of earplugs for the clutch "music", and you will never be the same person again !!!!!

My last couple bikes were all r6s or r1s. I will only go back to them for a track only bike. I just got the sargent saddle for mine over the winter. 300 mile days with a passenger arn't bad. The only downsides I have found are the size of the gas tank and the forks. There are threads on here about both issues.

not sure what the 796 puts out at the rear ,
but my light tuned 1100 puts out 97 rwhp and 107 Nm
much more torque than a 600 and around the same power as my mates 2004 R6 from memory..all at much lower rpm's too ..killer fun

Can't go wrong with it. Agree with CAlexio to rather get a used 1100.
The bike is VERY different to a jap 600. Get a test-ride first. The hyper's top speed is much slower and the stock engine setup only works well in a small rev range compared to the 7 000 - 15 000rpm usable range on the R6.
I abused an 1100 for 2 years without any problems and still miss it after trading it in on a 1098s. The hyper is fun and super fast in the city or anywhere with many bends.
The only things that I did not like was the small tank and all the attention which can be a pain if you are in a hurry. Small chatty crowds at shopping centres, random compliments/questions at traffic stops, thumbs up from other bikers and getting pulled over by the cops to perve over the bike. It seemed like spectators enjoyed the bike even more than me, if that was even possible
