Hyper engine covers, magnesium or aluminum?

Hey Guys and Gals

I'm in the process of gathering parts for a engine swap in my SS800, I want to put a 1100 Hyper motor in it. In my browsing on EBay I came across a nice looking front sprocket cover (that I bought) that’s magnesium, it looks a lot like the bronze/gold hyper side covers. I know DP makes magnesium side covers that look a lot like the Hyper’s (from pictures anyways). Anyone know?

Stock Ducatis as delivered on the bikes are aluminum but the DP ones you can buy afterwards is magnesium. (and expensive as hell!)
The 'gold' color is just paint on both of them.
That (the color) originated from the 60s when companys started making wheels from magnesium (hence the slang 'mags') And since its ultra corrosive it looks bad quick and Hallibrand (wheels and other alloy parts aftermarket company) worked with DowCorning and came up with 'Dow7' which have a gold tint to it.
Not sure of the European motorcycle industries start on using 'mag' wheels but a friend of mines family was the first here in the US, 'Morris Industries'. Might have heard the expretion 'Morris mags' from some old timer :-)

Thanks for the info guys, kind of thought they were just aluminum as there was no selling hyp on them being magnesium. Is this new addiction to magnesium, as hard to kick as the original Ducati, and then the carbon fiber one
