08' Correct idle speed
Want to see what the consensus is towards how fast my Hyper should be idling. This past Winter I installed the DucShop intake set-up and now believe the bike is idling too fast. Should it be running anywhere near 1200-1300 rpm? If I do need to slow down the idle. is it just a screw adjustment like the older bikes had? Have been involved with refurbishing a 91' 851 for the past few months and really haven't had the mindset to ask this question.
Thanks go out for the thoughtful response I'm sure many of you can offer.

It's supposed to be right at 1300.
The manual actually says 1300 +/- 50 RPM.

If it is set at 1300, you don't get the stalling issue that plagued many 08-09's. I adjusted mine using the air bleed screws. I believe their is a picture on here some where. Make sure you adjust for both throttle bodies. I made both of mine even at 3/4's of a turn from full in.

Appreciate the advice.
Just want to let you folks know I appreciate your simple comments. Have one of the TwinMax carb syncs on its way to me. Think I might go ahead and slap it onto all of my bikes to verify their set correctly.
Regarding the idling problems 08' bikes have, was that also a problem with the Termignoni twins and DP chip? Only running issues I've ever had was me not riding it enough due to the scary feeling the vague front-end portrays back to the rider...

I found that the idling problem went away once I replaced the stock ECU with the Termi 2-2 slip-on DP ECU and Leo Vince exhaust.

1350 with the DP ECU and full twin Termi set up ...No stalling for sure ever with the extra 50 rpm just for good measure , like say you got some crap gas...

Keep in mind that the Idle Air Control will try to hold the RPM to whatever the Idle Speed vs Engine Temp table tells it to.
On the DP 2-into-1 ECU it is 1400 RPM up to 0 degrees C and 1300 from there up.
If you open the throttle enough with the throttle stop screw the IAC will screw shut and if the engine won't come down in RPM it throws an error code.
If you close the throttle down enough the IAC will open all the way and if the RPM isn't right it will throw a code again.
In other words, you're stuck with whatever idle RPM the ECU is programmed with.
I'm not sure of the particulars of this system but, usually there is some throttle position above which the ECU assumes you're not at idle. If you get the TPS set wrong (that would be; screw the idle stop down, reset TPS, screw the idle stop open) you might get it to let you adjust the idle speed wherever you want, but your fueling would be in the ditch so you'd create a bunch of other probs.
The reason I don't now this for sure is that I just try to get them to run right and I don't change the idle RPM. I can do it because I have the software but idle speed is so far off my radar screen that I've never tried.
Once it's tuned it starts with a stab at the button and drives beautifully.

good explanation. I wasn't necessarily trying to change my idle speed when I adjusted my bleed screws. I was trying to smooth out some stalling issues and a loping cold idle.

I already have the Termi 2-2...now I'm throwing the Cams ECU and Zard collectors at it. My idle is 1100ish right now. Stalls when it's hot a lot, but I ride between 1850-2400ft also.

I have the light flywheel and when it was stock both before and after the flywheel install, it would stall some.
I put on the Termi 2-2 with the DP 2-1 ECU then used the VDSTS to get rid of my "wrench" light, reset my TPS, and bump my idle fuel mixture up to +6 where it really smoothed out the idle and stopped the stalling.
YMMV.
