Exclamation Standard 1100 or an S?

So I'm thinking Hyper, again!
Was the bike I originally looked for when it was time for my first Ducati but ended up with a super tricked-out -05 S4R instead!
Fun, loud and fast! But after a testride of a -11 Evo SP, I'm having swapping thoughts, big time!

So I'm looking around and found a local dealer that sits on some "old" -08s and a few used ones.
The thing is if I should opt for a 'standard'
(found one black, brand new -08, $9k)
Or a 'used' S model with slip-on (Termi's) at $11.5k (only got 400 miles but no warranty...)

What would you guys (with experience) say the biggest advantages of the S model is? (Rims, I know, but is it worth $2500?)
Would it be very noticeable for spirited street riding and goofing off, or more when pushing it to the limit at the track?

Granted my testride was the top of the line Evo SP and it sure rocked! But they sure don't give them away... And I already have one high dollar bike...

All advice and opinions is appreciated!

BLACK hypo's are cooler than RED

The 1100S in the 2008 Only comes in Black
And don't be fooled by the red owners on this group

Black is faster ,meaner, pulls more chicks and every body stays there distance of the owners with the black hypo's
old ladies move off the street , people point, and again you pull more chicks
Batman wanted one too.

All the other stuff on it is just a bonus.
Wheels ,adjustable link, CF , mono block brakes ,

I had to explain to my wife that the only way i get a black hypo was the more expensive one

she will kill me

we should have a vote best colour hypo ?

And we all know Batman is a man of great taste. Escpecially when it comes to motorcycle and riding gear.

S Calipers (Brembo monobloc M4) are great but overkill.
S forks are the same crap, different color
S shock, well I just installed one, and I like it way better than the Sach you can find on a
S wheels are good too, but the standard ones are allready light.

Black is by far the best and fastest colour.......and pulls more chicks......question for you is, if you're gonna go for one, will you be saying to yourself in 6 months "I should have gone for the S"?

I'm sure you'll enjoy it whichever you go for................my opinion.......go for the S if you can ;-)

As for batman, I think his taste has developed since 1966 lol

But then again in 45 years somebody will be looking at this bike and thinking WTF were they thinking? lol

The old 66 bike is ......erm......different shall we say lol

Didn't know Robin had a small go-cart in there...

Agreed on the black! Wish it could be the combo I have now though, with red frame. Then again, it wasn't available on mine either... It was fixed by the good guys at Seattle Ducati that way!

After more research it seams just like some of you mentioned, not a very big difference between an S and a 'standard'. And some of the minor things can be done better with aftermarket parts anyways!

After riding misc. bikes with the mega wide tires (which looks stupid, most of the time) myself I have to wonder how Batmans newer bike actually would handle...

What exhaust is on the standard? The stock?
If the S has Termis, it may have an upgraded ECU also...you could spend the $2500 on an exhaust upgrade alone, so if you look at it from that angle, the S is a better buy, plus you get all the other goodies for "free"

...red is better
