MWR Airbox Lid

Someone asked if I could post my thoughts on the MWR after install......here they are:
No instructions came with, but straight forward after I removed the airbox and split the top off.(heat gun and trim knife) The replacement lid seems really well made but some clips to hold it on would have been preferable to the self tapping screws. I can't give any details on performance gains as I also fitted Zard headers, Silmoto pipe and Cams ecu (no cams just yet) at the same time. I've been riding an 08 with slipon Termis and ecu and have done these mods on an 09, so can give my thoughts on the difference the extra mods have made to essentially the same bike. Just amazing improvement.....it feels like about 50 more H/P....tho that certainly isn't the case obviously. The bike runs awesome as is even tho the cams arn't in yet and I've not done a TPS reset or anything else. But......word of advise.......don't even consider the MWR unless you are prepared to wear earplugs or not rev it past 6000 rpm as the induction noise at full whack is crazy.
My thoughts on the Zard headers are mixed.......seem well made and look great and also came with no instructions (that may be an isolated incident) and tho they were marked on the box as Hyper headers I have my doubts. The front header was impossible to fit without mods as the bung was located so it pushed hard into the sump and I had to grind the plug down on one side before the mounting bracket got even close so if I ever need to get individual cylinders mapped it will need some major repositioning. Then the pipe that would normally join up to the underseat cans rammed straight into the seat subframe. I had to cut that part off to take the Silmoto 2 into 1 so it didn't matter and the end result I'm happy with but was a worry and could have been a whole lot worse had I been using the standard or Termi or Zard cans the headers were supposed to be designed for. I suspect this is an isolated incident also and for me it wasn't a huge problem as I have a background in the metal trades and patternmaking/moulding etc. but would have been a head scratcher for some.
However, the bike is a massive improvement and I can't wait to get those cams and a drop in kit for the front suspension.

Thanks for the tip johnny.......should be OK for a bit as winter is close and most of my riding is in cooler weather. Heading north next month for some surf time and will take the ute with the Hyper in the back and get the cams in and dialled and all that stuff at my buddies shop, North Coast Vee Twins.

(hey, I'll post on your post if you post on mine)

i reckon you definately got the wrong headers.....just fitted a zard system to mine on the weekend, everything fit beautifully first go. Maybe it was because i had instructions to follow
