Think a 796 hyper is in my future
I'm leaning hard on getting a 2011 796 Hypermotard. Headed up to the dealer this weekend for a final looksee.
My plan is to use it as a regular commuting bike as well as occasional trackdays.
Chris

Congrats!
Though I thought a HM 796 might have been in my future as well. My advice to you is this, if they have an Evo 1100 SP demo bike, stay far away from it. FAR FAR away!
I am looking to replace my 06 S2R800 for some sort of "in town" and "GF on the back to the coffee shop" style bike and the Evo Sp is now top of the list.
unless of course its a Monster 1100....

why bother with a new 796, when for $8000 you can get lightly used, often well equipped 1100 hyper. when you get the 796, you'll be happy for oh, 2 days, then you'll start asking about more power, then you'll start lusting after an 1100 and going to crazy lengths to get it. you'll try to resell you brand new + tax 796, realize no one will buy it from you, end up selling it for $5k with 300 miles on it, be upside down in your loan if you financed, come back on this forum and cry about it.
just get the 1100, and make it an evo sp if you can swing it.

Well put.
My buddy bought the 796, I rode it and loved it.
I found a 08 1100, bought it based on the ride of his 796.
Man am I glad I got the 1100!
The 796 is too mellow, even with the mods on my 1100, its needs more power.
Get a used 1100, and add some HP to it with the $ you would have spent on the 796!

LOL... let me just say that if you get a 796 you will find yourself doing that rocking back and forth motion as you accelerate trying to will the bike forward. Impotence will be your best friend, and then size... really won't matter.

ah it's always the ones with small ones that say size doesn't matter. Do yourself a favor be like the man in the photo and get a 1100. Bigger is always better....

well, I was enjoying my 1100 for 3 fantastic years but then had a penis reduction and decided the younger ones like small and fast action guys, 796 has been lingering in my loins now for a few months and I am so happy with the design and power, I find myself going faster in sections than before, cruising the same areas with the same pleasure, sure I'd too love the evo and the 1100 had very many exciting attributes, but with 796 I find there's 100 more km of fuel, just as naughty and exciting in bends, more so in some cases. I might be getting old but far from getting a cruiser and arm-chairing the ride... go the 796
