Air filter?
So I was thinking of adding a aftermarket air filter but not sure which one. I know for a fact that I do not want a pod type filter. I am pretty much done doing any major changes to this bike. Don't want to dump any more large amounts of money and time into it. This is why I just want a normal type of filter. What are people that are not running the Pods going with?

i have the K&N filter that sits in the stock spot and i did the airbox mod.its only making a 2 1/2 inch hole on the small piece that holds the air filter to the top of the air box.works well and breaths better as well.it was 40 bucks online.dont remember where i got it ,i just goggled the part number and kept checking the links to see who was the cheapest.
i will add its a bit of a chore to get to the top of the air box.

So why change it at all? You're not going to gain anything with the stock airbox and just changing the filter. The airbox is the limiting factor.

K&N, BMC, DNA, are oil gauze filters, Uni & MWR are foam filters, all work with the stock airbox. I use the BMC because it was the only one that was out back in 08. And it works fine. I'm sure all the filters listed here are good. Aloha Alex

I used a BMC before I went to pods. They don't have any resale for some reason. I sold it for like $2 on fleabay. It seems people view K&N as being superior for some reason.
At least drill the top of the box with a hole saw. The bottom helps too. There are some useful threads about the mod. It would take you an additional 15 minutes while installing your new filter.

Well since you asked. I am not dumping anymore money into this bike. This will be the third season for it so I think a air filter change is warranted. I am not opposed to doing the airbox mods but the airbox will stay on the bike as long as I have it.
I did notice that MWR makes 2 different types of filters. But the one that removes the top of the airbox is almost $200. Not that the $100 normal style filter is any better price wise.

No, as long you leave the exhaust stock, you can get rid of the cat however. Aloha Alex
