What I have always wondered about was swingarm angle. I have talked to Brian at Podium Racing and he mentioned something in the way that the Hyper had a too flat swingarm angle (which would be solved by raising the rear). I havenīt had the time to take any measurements, but in the end it all comes down to: if it feels good, it is good. So I am unsure whether this is really important for the real world now or not.

I installed a 998 rear ride height rod. Will measure eye to eye length when I get the chance and post the numbers in here. Generally it is the same legth as the stock non adjustable rod the 08 base model comes with.

Did you already do the quarter turn throttle mod? I really liked that and it didnīt cost much (used Yamaha R6 throttle+housing).

I did do the r6 tube after I had tried the dan kyle throttle tube. I like the r6 tube much more. The swingarm angle being too flat would make sense. The combination of the much improved suspension allowing me to raise the rear has resulted in the bike being significantly more planted while cornering, maintaining the line well and not wheeling or running wide on exit. Trying these settings with the old suspension gives me nightmares because the bike was so unstable in the corner. To be honest I am not all that knowledgeable about the specifics of the geometry, what the ideal numbers are and so on. I need to work on gaining more insight into it so I can know what the changes are really doing and how the math relates to the feel. Much more in-depth than I am now. I know some, but it is never enough it seems...

The threads are the same but the length of the rod is not, if I remember correctly. I have it set at 270mm from eye to eye (center of eye), 4 threads showing on each side above the nuts.

I did this just by taking some tools with me to a track day and fiddling in between sessions. It is all feel based, and since it was the only track that was available for me to ride, tailored to it specifically. Not scientific at all! The track has a steep decent coming off of a left hand corner to a sharp right. In this short section is the braking zone where you need to cut 80mph rapidly. I am 6ft and 210lbs with gear on and having the rear up (or the front down) anymore than it is now makes me feel like I am going over the bars while on the brakes, no matter how hard I squeeze the bike. It is also pretty stable on the straight and I am able to reach top speed and steer through a slight right without feeling problems.

I try out a new track next month so I will have to make adjustments for it I am sure. Are there other measurements I could take that would be of interest?

I thought that shape looked familiar. I just sold an XB12R. Do you always run at CCS events at PBIR? I'd like to pick your brain in person at the next race day.

If you don't mind terribly, I think I will steal that idea? Also for you, Ben or keywesthyper, are you still running the stock airbox or perhaps the EVR box? I am not sure about your class rules on inake modification. I am planning to relocate the oil crankcase breather and wondering how you had solved the problem. At this point I think I will relocate it to under the tail and just weld an aluminum box.
