Next generation hyper?
When and what does Ducati have in store for a new hyper?
There is plenty of speculation and "leaks" about the 2012 superbike: cf frame, +20hp, -20lbs, and even some crazy talk of 4 cylinders. I haven't heard anything about a new hyper and the models are the same age. The SP model is a ducati-red flag that the new model is near, but all the smoke from the Multi, Diavel, Rossi, and now the 2012 sb seems to have kept the hyper rumors away.
Per the new Monster, it would seem the next model hyper could easily get a bump in hp to 100, and dtc + abs with little retooling in the factory. What about other changes: new panels, off-road settings like the Multi, Monster-esque trellis, cf frame, cup holder?

My guess on what they might do:
Lighter and ABS would be my money bets on new additions.
I wonder if they might make an R or SP "track only" package and include the Termi 2-1, cams, slipper, DTC, ABS, Ohlins front???
Wildest guess is that they might make an "Adventure" bike out of it akin to the BMW 800gs or more tour friendly like the KTM SMT.

or maybe ducati will paint the hypermotard rainbow colors, and put unicorns in the engine to make more power.

Longer suspension on a Street fighter to compete with the new 1200 Aprilla?

Leaks on the 2012 SBK are quite accurate.
Some people say an early design was presented at Las Vegas last summer during the dealer Diavel presentation.
It should still a 2 cylinders, reving high and architectured around the "frameless" design you can see on the Desmo RR
The leaks on the next Hypermotard are still rumors yet to be confirmed.
Ducati will probly give up on the air cooled.
Some say they might even give up on the 2 valve, which I find very doubtfull.
So my bet goes on a 2V liquid cooled, 1200cc, ABS and a little bit lighter.
If someone at Ducati reads that, here's a list of what I would like :
*150kg dry
* 1200cc
* no ABS, or at least one that you can switch off
* single front rotor setup
* spoke wheels
* Ohlins MX 48mm fork...
* Cheap spare parts, amazing how Italian plastic is expensive these days.

From what I heard, the 2012 SBK will be a 200hp twin and "will be worth the wait" so the regional rep says.
No news on the hyper though, my guess is it'll be BNG for 2012

Well he wouldn't be a very good rep if he said the next model wasn't worth the wait, now would he?
200hp 2cyl? Crank or bhp?

I know it's a twin with new crank bearings, not sure about the measurement as far as power output is concerned.
My next bike will be a SBK and I've been bugging the man for about a year to know if the 1198 model line would end in '11 and what changes the new model would include.
Last month I met him at a show and mentioned my intention of getting a '11 SP and he went:"2012 might be the year and it will be worth the wait".
