Will i be true to my 796 ?
I have been riding my 796 for a year and really enjoy the whole feel of the bike (city, winding country roads). I tested a Monster 1100 the other day and thought "so that's what that big torky motor is all about". Now i'm all upset and think i need want lust for the 1100 Hyper Evo. Is the riding experience (handling, cornering, maneuverability) equal, better or not as good as the 796 HM ? I' m asking this as the dealer here in Paris has no 1100 Evo to try.
Thanks for some guidance...

A lot of people question the reason for the 796 when the 1100 is the real deal, I love my 796 cause its a great middle weight bike that you can run wide open without getting to silly, I also own a Suzuki SV1000 and my dad has a Streetfighter, I love the feel of the smaller 796 engine and when riding with my two friends on their Suzuki SV650s we have a great time cause the bikes are dead even.

Sure our 796 's are great, but what about the actual experience of 1100 Hyper riders who have driven both and could testify...

I rode a HM796 last year when the Duc truck came to the dealer. I'd been lusting after one and planned to buy one this spring. Turns out my dealer had a 2008 1100 demo with 160 miles they were selling as new (warranty started when I took it) for $1000 less than a 796. It's a real eye turner ande I get compliments all the time in just a month of owning her.
I thought the seat height for me at 5'6" would be an issue but having ridden long enough I have no confidence issues at all. I'm not regretting a darn thing about the 1100.
Overall, a perfect addition to sit next to my M696.

My 796 is a head turner as well, everywhere I go ppl stop to have a closer look at it, seems really popular.
Especially amongst those pesky KTM people, they seem to like it a lot

Thank you for the favorable views on the 796 looks, but the object of my posting is to know whether i should ditch my cute and lovely 796 for the gutsy 1100 Evo.

Having had an 1100 (standard) for 3 years, now the 796 i can say, if you like grunt, serious big thrills you would enjoy the Evo...I went 796 cause I'm getting older and didn't use the full grunt/power of the 1100 enough to enjoy it, even though i loved every minute on it.... now I find I'm riding better, faster and really loving the ride more...
Front wheel came up on my 1100 anytime, with the Evo it would be sensational...but not so quick on the 796 without more twist...something I dont mind, you might enjoy...
be good to test ride one, you'll love it no doubt.

Your comment sheds new light: so what you are saying is, you get more of a "funfactor" with the 796 now than you would with the 1100? You enjoy using the full power range of a smaller engine than just some of a bigger one. That's the whole reason for this posting. Would i lay out lots of cash for something that would ultimatly deceive me? Dilema.

Sounds like your ready to trade up to the bigger Hyper, but feeling guilty about getting rid of your 796 because it served you well and you love it. Don't worry your 796 will find a new owner that will love and care for it just like you. I would go SP or hmmm.... maybe I would wait and see what the next round of Hypers are looking like and just hang with the 796 until then. Either way I think you will be happy with the 1100. I'm not knocking the 796 I think they are cool. To me the 1100's torque is addicting once you get one you'll be hooked.
