Hyper 796 known issues?
I'm quite taken with the hyper 796. Sat on one again today. I test rode an 1100 last year but think the 796 power will be fine with me.
I scrolled well into the hyper forum thread and didnt see any issues jump out. Have any owners encountered any problems. Is range an issue as it is on the 1100?
Looking forward to hearing
Chris

I've had one check engine light issue which you can read about HERE.
Had my seat replaced under warranty do to a tear towards the front right edge where it meets the gas tank.
I recently had an oil leak start from under one of the valve inspection covers which was taken care of under warranty.
I also get close to 130 miles before the fuel light comes on consistently.
My wife complains that her ass is burning on long highway stretches because of the under seat cans.
I love my 796, wouldn't change anything.

Chris,
I think either bike is a ball to ride. My only thoughts would be that you deal with the seat by adding the DP seat, ditch the Cat, and tweak the suspension to your liking. It's a very confident ride for around town with great look ahead advantage. I have not ridden a 796, what is the difference in feel? Is it more nimble?

Thanks for the link Nginear!
Bill, haven't ridden the 796 just the 1100, but thinking power should be more than adequate for me.
I looked at it today as well as the diavel, going back and forth on which to get right now! As I'll still have the streetfighter and wing.

I have 5000miles on my 796 so far and love it, Have never ridden an 1100 but own a Suzuki SV1000 and my dad has a Streetfighter, I ride all three bikes and 796 has the perfect amount of power and handles great.

I ended up getting a Hyper 1100 this spring instead of a 796 because of the price my dealer gave on a 160 mile demo model that hadn't had been put into service yet (i.e. never registered for the warranty).
I was already factoring in the CA Cycleworks HM69 fuel tank for whichever Hyper I bought. I installed it a couple weeks ago and am enjoying pushing 240 miles per tank versus 120. Going forward, I'll be using my Hyper as my touring bike; I've put 25K+ miles on my M696 in two years.

I had no issues with my 796 either, works like a charm.

I've only had my 796 for about 3000km, and did trade my 1100 Hyper for the 796...
immediate things i noticed....
Standard 796 seat is more than good! I put my DP racing seat on and found it harder...changed back. but I tend to use an Airhawk on any 500km trips still)
Fuel, I kept filling up with the 1100 memory but found I always had more left than usual so did a cruise ( cruise) and measured...ended up filling at 280km (172Mi) with 3 liters to spare...
cruiseability, much the same, torque is down (1100>796) but changing gears and a fistful of fun fixes that with lots of smiles...
Lightness... it really does feel heaps lighter to flick around and handle but just as secure on road holding..despite the standard front end....
my 2 cents...I am very happy and dont miss the 1100 now...

Pete, why did you trade in the 1100 on the 796?
