you can do it or have a shop do it. but its alot of work if you do it your self. you need to start with 220 grit wet sand paper and move up to 400 then 600 then 1000 then 1500 and then it will start to shine!! i did it before on my aprilia but not worth the time.
wd40 is your Friend for exhaust.it helps keep off corrosion and for any hard spots just use some 400 grit wet sand paper now and then to clean them up then a coat of wd40. a tip is to use a rag to keep down the fumes when you start it up to burn off the residue
if your good at beating off you'll do great at this! :

Yep you can, I don't know if they sell this in de US but I'm using a polishing paste called ALU rub, produced by a company called Belgom (productnr 09.0251).It is a white paste you aply with a piece of cloth, in a circular motion you polish your pipes with it, the white paste becomes black, rub it of and with a clean cloth you can then polish to a mirror shine......the first them you have to do repeat this a few times depending how bad the pipes look.I do this once a month and it keeps them shinning.....

I've done it. I used this
with this
and cleaned off all the excess with a rag. Its polished but not perfect. It takes a long time to get it nice an chromish looking. I just polished till the dull is gone.

I went the opposite route and did this...
My personal tastes are, if it shines, replace it with carbon fiber, cover it, or coat it!

any chrome shop can do it for about $200. They look like chrome until you heat them up = then they turn a goldish hue...

You could have them ceramic coated in a range of colours or silver/chrome look, it does the inside of the pipe as well and the manufacturers claim H.P. improvements.

cheers guys think i'll give them a going over with autosol or similar, don't want a mirror finish, just a clean up really
Did think about wrapping them, looks pretty trick
freezer16801 :> I was also contemplating taking off the pillion pegs/huge steel girders, as that looks a lot cleaner! Are they the standard pillion heel guards and did you make any mods to fit them?

Ceramic coating headers black claims +2 horsepower by cooling exhaust temp...Tacking that onto the mods list.
