Stalling

New to the forum so I'm sure that this has already been addressed, but I thought I would start here. I just got a used 2008 Hyper ( 4780 miles) which runs great but it occasionally stalls when coming to a stop with the clutch in. It will start start right back up and run fine after that. A friend told me this was a problem with the early Hypers. It is completely stock ( not the "S" model). Anyone else ever experience this? If so, what's the problem and the possible fix?

Thanks

Same problem here, used 08 with 1200 mi. I believe its the factory tune to blame for the stalling. The easy fix is to have the dealer set the tps and idle speed/co with the gastester. I also believe you can add a Fatduc to help smooth out the low end stalling/jerkyness. The best most expensive solution is the ducati performance ecu with an exhaust system, elimitate the o2 sensor and reset the tps.

I can reflash the ECU for 300 bucks which will correct all the drivability issues to include disable the O2 sensor. Same day turnaround.

Welcome to the forum adamo. You can find many threads on the subject if you click search, then click advanced search. Choose Hypermotard then type in Stalling or what ever subject you need info on. I had the same stalling problem had a close call because of it. If you plan on keeping the exhaust stock you can get a FATDUC it's cheap and many here will tell you it works well. I ended up getting the full exhaust with racing ecu and it solved the problem all together. Bike runs so much smoother and no stalling. In my opinion if you take it to the dealer they will play dumb pretend they never heard about this so called stalling issue and play around with shit that will never really solve the problem. After like two times of complaining they will try to sell you a $2500 Termignoni exhaust and then offer to install it for another $600 or $700. If you decide to go the exhaust route you could find them cheaper online. There are some vendor's on here that could hook you up too. There are also lots of helpful threads here on installs if you try and do it yourself. Good luck The Hyper is a great bike especially after you sort out the lean fueling.

Thanks for the help guys. I eventually want to get the termi exhaust but I'll probably go one of the other routes right now( if I lived on the east coast I'ld be seeing you David!). When you say "tps', you mean the throttle position sensor correct? Is "ecu" emission control unit?. This stuff is kinda of new to me because my last ride( which I still have ) is a 1980 H-D shovelhead, (back when engines were simple)
thanks again for the help!

ecu electronic control unit or engine control unit. it is under the right side plastic tank fairing.

I never had stalling until I installed the termi exhaust kit, ECU and had the dealer reset the TPS.

I fixed the problem myself by adjusting the air bleed screws. The idle now is much smoother and the bike never stalls. This is after I installed a light flywheel!
