To SP or not to SP

Hey guys! I'm finally getting close to getting my first Ducati.
Have always admired them, but always from afar.

Looking at getting a Hyper in the next couple of months, but have the age old question of whether the SP is worth the extra money over the standard Evo.

One thing i do like about the SP is the extra height. Im about 170cm tall so its nice to sit on something that I dont feel funny on.

Just wondering anyone’s opinion, or if anyone has had both models, etc?

Thanks
Jonathan

the look alone of the sp is worth spending the extra dosh over the base. I haven't ridden the base but the sp round the mountains is the most fun i've ever had. I'm 180cm tall and at that height i have found myself tip toeing at the lights, just something to think about. How much are the sp's in nsw?

If you can afford the difference I say SP. The monobloc calipers are incredible, the forks are 30mm longer, Ohlins rear shock, adjustable ride height rod, forged Marchesini wheels, 1" handlebar riser and some carbon fibre bits.

The drawhack is the extra seat height. I have 74cm inseam and it's tip toes on both sides!

Thanks for the feedback guys.
Yeh i fancy the the look of the SP over the base.
SP's are about $23,000 ride away down here, which I think is the country average. Not sure if I can talk them down a bit.
Really though when you look at it, its about $2,000 more.

Spose the question is too, would it be better to get a SP with the standard pipe or a Base model with a Termi?

I'm 1,65 cm and get along with the EVO SP well. My Hyper's seat-height is at 86 cm (due to the DP-seat) and I can't get both feet on the ground at the same time. But with one foot on the peg, I can place the other one firmly on the ground.

Having both feet on the ground is just redundant

Best regards...

the full zard only cost me 1400 odd bucks, can't remember for sure.......www.carbon-imports.com.au......he is local to you in NSW, if you speak to them, tell the guy Daz sent you

the brakes alone are worth every penny. once you ride a bike with brakes like this you realize how chitty most bikes brake are.

hey man, I on my second hyper... I had a black 08s and now i have a 2010 evo... and i must STRONGLY disagree with everyone who says to get an sp vs and evo.... for the following reasons...

1. MONO BREMBOS ARE WAY OVERKILL ON THIS BIKE. THE STOCK BREMBOS THAT COME ON THE BASE ARE MORE THAN ADEQUATE.

2. THE SUSPENSION SET UP THAT COMES ON THE BASE IS TOTALLY FINE FOR STREET AND CANYON RIDING. THE SP SETUP IS REALLY JUST FOR SHOW. THE ONLY TIME YOU MIGHT NOTICE IT WOULD BE ON THE TRACK. EVEN THEN ONLY A HIGHLY EXPERIENCED RIDER WHO REALLY PUSHES THE BIKE TO ITS LIMITS WILL NOTICE...

3. RIDE HEIGHT OF AN SP VS AND EVO. THROW A 50 DOLLAR RIDE HEIGHT ADJUST BAR ON YOUR EVO FROM AN 08 OR 09 S MODEL AND YOUR GOOD TO GO.. THIS IS COMING FROM A GUY WHO REALLY GETS IT OVER, TRUST ME WHEN I TELL YOU UNLESS YOUR TRACKING THIS THING AND PLAN TO RACE IT THE EXTRA INCH AND A HALF OR WHATEVER IT GIVES YOU IS OVERKILL..

4. THE LIGHTER WHEELS SAVE YOU WHAT LIKE 2 LBS? COME ON......

SAVE YOOUR MONEY BUY A BASE MODEL AND PUT THE EXTRA DOE INTO A TERMI 2 INTO 1 AND YOUR GOOD TO GO.... JUST MY HUMBLE OPINION...
