Ground clearance at lean angle??
What have you guys done to improve lean angle ability on your hypers?
I have had 2 hypers.. the first was a black s 08. The new one i just got is a 2010 evo.
Im scrapping everything under the sun in the canyons with this bike. Pegs... kick stand.. Im going to try and adjust suspension to get a little more ground clearance but are there any other options besides rear sets that i may be missing?
thanks....

Suspension and proper fitment of rear sets will be your best bets here. Adjust your ride positioning as it feels right also.

ya thats kind of what i thought... im just hesitant to put the rear set on because i like the fold up of the stock pegs... dont want to lose that... but i ride that bike so hard in the canyons that i have to do something because im grinding everything up... im going to do the suspension and see if that helps at all before i do the pegs... im about 6ft tall and 175.. do you thing the stock evo set up on the suspension is adequate ?

I see the adjustable ride height bar off the Sp on eBay sometimes. Also the SP forks are 30mm longer for more ground clearance. I see them on eBay sometimes also.
I think that 175lb is OK for the stock springs from what I have read here. The consensus is change to 5w fork fluid with 100-120mm air gap. The stock spring is a progressive wound, a lot of people recommend replacing it with a straight wound from Racetech.

you should be able to get the adj. ride height bar from a lot of bikes besides the Sp. I think mine was from a 916.
Also, I take my hyper to one track day a year. Otherwise I ride my R6 at the back of the A class for about 10-15 track days/year. The first year when the hyper's suspension was stock, I had a 4 inch beard hanging from my knee sliders after a session. The next year after ride height adj., front springs and fluid change, I can't even touch a knee.
Regardless, you need to hang off this bike. Even when I rubbed sliders so much, I only touched pegs and boot sliders when I messed a corner up and my body position was wrong.
don't listen to others that say you need an SP so you don't scrape parts. Hell, Ruben Xaus didn't even scrape parts when he was backing her in with his thumb in the air, smoke rolling for reporters!

thanks man... thats kind of what i thought... the sp is overkill. the mono brembos are to much brake for that bike and the olins your really not going to feel unless your on a track... so thats wht i stuck with the evo. Im going to adjust the ride bar and see what happens...

Max it out!
Like the Forum members said, get the adjustable link, set it the max length, to raise the rear, drop the forks in the clamps some to raise the front. Set your sag 35 to 45mm depending on your style.
Get some rearsets, I use the DP ones, pegs fold, and you can keep the passenger pegs if you want.
Get some good rubber and your good to go!
Just remember that the Hyper is not a true sportsbike, and has its limits, for the canyons she's fine, but if ypu want to play at the top of the "A" class you'll need a different bike.
IMHO Aloha Alex
