Am I missing something??

I have an 08 Hyper 1100s, Termi 2-1 full system with the DP ECU, Beast R intake and a nicols lightened flywheel, etc etc. The bike runs fantastic. Its a blast and seems damn fast - I think.

I hear (and see on this forum) a lot about power commander this, custom map that, rich/lean vertical cylinder, horizontal cylinder, ECU flush... I take it this is "the next level" engine tuning and fueling. I've not the slightest idea though. Did I miss something? Is investing in a power commander necessary? Will it turn my bike into more of an angry demon?

Forgive my ignorance. Just trying to see the big picture with all this. I'm thinking along the lines of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." But it seems like there are gains to be made here - yes?

Thanks!

Do you have the exhaust smell problem, where your back, back pack or passenger is saturated with unburned fuel?

I'm with You. I run 2-1, Stacks + the DP Cam ECU supplied with the DP Race Cams. 02 sensor is non-existent on Mi Hyper, & it runs great. Maybe lean... I wonder how much hp I could collect with a custom map? What other options are there besides DynoJet?

Negative. No unburned fuel smell, no popping, no stalling (cold starting with the lightened flywheel can be rough sometimes) and I've never had the bike feel like it was starved fuel wise throughout the rpm range.

You would pick up some more ponies with a custom map and/or dyno tuning using a Power Commander with the mods you have, I am gues the fueling is a little off (lean).

Out!

I have similar mods (see sig) and bike runs great with DP Cam ecu. I also wonder if it would be worth it for a dyno tune. Im going to ask ecs when I bring it in for 7,500 mile service which I might hit this year or next year. But for now its running great!

DynoJet is great cause you can get it tuned pretty much everywhere for a decent price.

Other options are non-piggyback solutions. Full customizable ECU such as Nemesis or Microtec.
Great products, usually sold with a map that you can use as a starting point for a fine tunning job.
