Lowering with linkage/forks - performance gains?

Hey,

I did a search and found that people are using the adjustable linkage to lower the rear end of the bike/change seats so they can "flat foot" at a red light or what have you. My question is, does lowering the rear end (and forks) make a difference performance wise? Does the bike turn easier? I still feel like I'm riding "on" the bike vs. "in" the bike. I've not touched the linkage or adjusted the forks in the clamps.

Thoughts and experiences are appreciated!

Cheers!

The "stance" of the Hyper should be paid respect to maintain the harmony between front & rear suspension... With that said, be sure to maintain that "balance"... & get it to work for You.

I had Mine lowered significantly (& it turns splendidly, even under heavy braking) by Mi friendly neighborhood suspension guru. It will not adversely affect the handling if the front & rear work together as intended. As opposed to simply dropping the ride height adjuster and not making proper adjustment to the other facets of the Hyper's suspension components. Compression, Rebound, Sag, etc.

Try taking it to the track, have it dialed in there. Not only will there be a technician available to help You with this, but it will also be a more conducive environment to realize exactly what You need. Hope this helps.

Changing one end OR the other will change the attitude of the bike. The way it turns in, the way it finishes a turn, the way it handles throttle/brakes, and even the way it handles bumps.

If you are comfortable with the handling of your bike (at least for now) I would try a lower seat to try to correct the riding "on" vs. riding "in" feeling. Getting lower "in" the bike is the only way to truely combat that feeling.

An alternative, and one that I used, is to raise the bars higher in relation to the seat. this will give you a similar feeling of being more "in" the bike but not quite as much as a lower seat will. FTR, I have the DP Race seat and a Scotts Damper with the sub-mount which raised the handlebars by about 20mm.

Once you get the bike to "feel" the way you want it, then, and only then, is the best time to work on the bike's attitude.
