the next Stage
Hey Everyone ,
I've got a hyper here in cambodia and it's the best investment i have ever made (not to mention buckets of fun). But there is something lacking in the speed department.....Straight roads and long rides.
So Even though i hate to part with it I feel i need to move on to something faster and i cant afford to have 2 bikes.
Since I've only owned 2 Ducatis I've been thinking of the 1098s although on a test ride it felt kinda cramped(im 6'2) and after a hyper i feel anything would feel cramped. Most of the research I've done on the net point to the Cbr1000rr as being the best bike out there short of a bmw1000rr.
So if any of you have both a sports bike and a hyper could you give me some tips on what you would recommend also what would be the most comfortable for 5-600km rides. Any help would be awesome.
Cheers

i think you should check out a streetfighter if you are chasing more power
Me....i bought a hyper for the reasons you are selling yours, i think there is ample power and torque for street and mountain riding. I'm even planning on 500km days on the hyper. Ok the power flattens out pretty quick up top but she'll still do 200kph no problems. I love this hyper so much my 1098R doesn't even have a battery in it anymore.......

At 6'2". any sportbike will feel cramped to you.
If you wish to stay with Ducati, why not consider a Streetfighter? It has all the power (relatively) of a 1098 with decent ergonomics so that you don't have to do a pre-ride stretch before mounting.
In the Japanese department, you may want to consider the new CB1000R. Again, all of the power (relatively) of the CBR1000RR but sano ergos.
None of these bikes have any kind of wind protection, very similar to your Hyper, but then again, how fast do you need to run and for how long??
Don't you have like wild oxen to watch for on your roadways???

I've sat on the Streetfigter a bunch of times and it feels perfect to me. Best of both worlds as far as ergo's go. Don't see me buying anything new in the near future but if I could I'd probably go Streetfighter or 848.

If I were to go back to a sportbike for street riding it would be either the Aprilia RSV4 or the Yamaha R1. I like the idea of different engine configurations. R1 has the crossplane crank (long bang firing order) and the RSV4 has the V4. The sound of either bikes riding past with a race exhaust gives me the urge to pleasure myself.

Thanks for the replies guys,
Tried the street fighter too, and found it really uncomfortable...seems like all my weight was on my palms and that i kept sliding forward on the bike( this happens in the 1098, 848 too) but not sure if the config was all wrong .
I'm over the naked variety, as the wind blast is quite frustrating and looking to tuck in and see that odo fly(not a speed junkie but most of our bikes are sportbikes in our riding group and kinda fed up of being in the lower quadrant in each trip) ok so maybe i'm a bit of a speed junkie. I have been offered a limited edition hayabusa for a price that would be rude to say no to... So any thoughts on that ? other than it's a widow maker...too fast etc.
And Mr. R wanna swap? will send you my hyper with a fully charged battery

NOPE ............it depends on what you're looking for from your riding mate, the busa will be ok for longer journeys going fast on open roads but not really up to the task in the tighter cornering stuff. When i get a bit older and track days aren't for me anymore i'll be buying a multistrada, but for now i'll be keeping this
