Exhaust and Ecu help
I just about finished up my zard collector install and decided to fire it up. I installed my DP cam ecu so I figure I wouldn't get check engine light because I removed the cat/o2 sensor and flapper pipe and servo motor.
Anyway I turn the key and my first surprise was that it was an EU ecu, so everything reads in km and *c. I guess the guy I bought it from forgot to mention that. Is there anyway to change it back to mph? If not no biggie I'll just hang onto it until I find another one.
Second, the cel came on when I first turned the key and stayed on after I started it and while running. How can I find out what code it is? Does the CEL come on when a new ecu is used until the tps sensor is reset?
Thanks for any advise you can offer me.
Brett

Ok turns out its code 36.0 Speed sensor. I don't know what I did to it. Could it be because it is a EU ecu on a USA bike?

Ok I got the bike back to USA mode:
How to switch display from EUR to USA?
Tomorrow I will plug the stock ecu back in with the o2 sensor and flapper pipe and see if I get the 36.0 code...

I put the stock ecu back in, plugged in the o2 sensor and the flapper servo and turned the key, no CEL.
I put the DP ecu back in, unplugged the o2 sensor and flapper servo and the CEL code "36.0 speed" came back.
So I know the speed sensor is ok because it worked with the stock ECU. Did I get a bad DP ECU?
Any ideas I'm kinda stumped?

Over 100 views and no ideas? Can the dealer reset the CEL and then we can see if it stays off? I'd like to try something before I just try to buy another ecu.

You're going to need to bring the bike to the dealer to get the TPS reset anyway. You have to do that when you install a new ECU. They're going to be your best bet for diagnosing the problem.

Did you do a process of elimination?
DP ECU: both o2 sensors and flapper motor worked
DP ECU: o2 sensors hooked up flapper motor not
DP ECU: o2 sensor unhooked flapper motor hooked up
I lean towards one of them causing it. If it's the flapper motor, motocreations has the Duc.EE flapper emulator to rid that.
If the o2 sensors are throwing the error, then maybe you have a slipon DP flash and not the full system? Im just throwing shit at the wall here.

The from the DP ECU code is for the speed sensor.
I reinstalled me stock ecu, stock o2 sensor and stock flapper connector and there was no CEL.
That process of elimination tells me that the speed sensor is ok and something is wrong with the DP ecu.
Guess I'll see what the dealer says. Worse case scenario I buy one of those new DP ecu on ebay for $480 and I am stuck with a junk one.

Update:
I got the exhaust together last night and took it up the block and back. This morning the CEL was not on. Weird but I am psyched! Maybe this will help someone in the future with a similar problem.
