Questions about Hypermotard plastic tanks
I had a 2008 Hypermotard for about a year and a half before it was stolen. I miss it and am thinking about getting a new one. It was my first Ducati and I wasn't really aware of tank swelling issues. It isn't hard to find info regarding the Sport Classics, but is it aso happening to the Hypermotard? At least to the extent of being able to see the swelling and having to replace the tank.
Thanks in advance for any info.

Surveyor,
Thanks for the reply. What did your tank do? I know that it obviously swelled, but did it break loose of any mounting point or distort the bodywork attached to it?

Mine swelled and ended up breaking the left shroud's lower mount point. It was obvious that the tank was pushing against the shroud. Good news is, both tank and shroud are getting replaced. Better news is they gave me the option of getting a replacement stock tank or the CCW 6.4 gallon. Guess which I chose

No shit??? I was gonna ask my dealership about that, but I figured it was futile. I should be getting a new tank in the near future as well (waiting on DNA to authorize it). Now I know I have a chance.

At least that's what the service tech told me. Waiting for delivery of the shroud (who know's how long that'll take). So hopefully I'm not blowing smoke and it all actually happens.
Too bad the midsize tank isn't done with development otherwise I'd go with that hands down. Beggars and choosers, right?

Funny story about beggars and choosers... I was walking up to a 7/11 and saw a guy hand a sandwich to a bum sitting outside. The bum opens the sandwich and says "Aw man, I'm a vegetarian." I was thinking "yeah, but you're also a bum, just eat the f*cking sandwich." Anyways, proof positive that beggars can, in fact, be choosers.
