A Bit off Forum Topic- Bikes for Science

Posting for a friend, whose research just may help us all. I know we have Ducati's; but maybe you know someone who might be able to help.

I'm sending this to everyone I can think of who might know of someone with motorcycles. Specifically cheap non-running motorcycles they don't want. I'm part of a group that will be conducting some motorcycle crash-testing soon in FL, and have just been advised that the bike supplier one of the guys had lined up has canceled, so I'm looking for motorcycles to crash. I have a budget of about $200 each (though I might be able to go up a little). They do NOT have to run, but we would like an engine in there (for the weight). They should be rollers with straight forks and tires which hold air (at least for a few minutes), and the more complete and newer the better. No title required (but stolen bikes are not allowed). We'll be towing them into the wreck, hopefully at about 45mph, in order to assess damage on both vehicles and conduct energy/momentum analyses. If you guys know of anyone with an old beater they'd like to exchange for a few bucks for the good of science, please give a shout. I will be driving down the eastern seaboard from NH to FL with a trailer (currently slated to be carrying 2 GN400s and a '96 ZX6, but there's more room still!) so pickup can be arranged along the way. For your amusement, this was a similar test (though we won't have the training
wheels):

Thanks. -W

put a dummy with either blue hair or a teenager texting in the van to make the science legit!

Have you thought of posting this on the racing BBSs [specifically WERA BBS]? They always have rolling chasis and beater bikes in garages over there.

Posting anywhere I can think. If you have any ideas, feel free to cut and paste the first post to whatever site!

When asking a Ducati owner if he had any problems with his bike, his response was:
"The only problem I've had is attractive women divesting themselves of their clothing and rubbing their naughty bits on my leg while they lick the gas tank. Makes it hard to pull away from a red light,...... sometimes."
