Mayday, severed front motor mount.
I noticed an interesting sound coming from the Hyper a couple of days ago, sort of a creaking. After further inspection, I found the crack in the casing on BOTH HALVES of the engine surrounding the engine mount. I hit 35,000 miles today.
after adding up the numbers, it looks like its going to cost close to getting a new-ish engine. Not to mention the time its going to take to drop the motor and preform open heart surgery on it.
finding this felt like a hammer blow to the stomach. I guess its time to pull the xmas lights off the R6 and take it out of my living room.
any suggestions?

You may be able to have it welded.
I had an R6 that had a shattered motormount and the welder had to "create" a motormount for it. I then had a machine shop drill and tap it for the proper sized mounting bolt.
Just a thought.

Agree with DD... should be able to be welded properly. Will require splitting the cases, but it's not THAT big of a deal.
But what caused it? Is the front motor mount bolt loose?

I have been in contact with that seller for a couple days about that engine. sounds lock stock to me. It seems like the best option out of the 4 that are on there. Hmmmm wonder why some of the others have higher mileage and are missing some covers but are still 500 bucks more than this one?
I got t-boned by a lowlife last year. my guess is that a small crack from that may have spread over time. Motovation frame sliders received considerable damage and took the front of the blow.

Sorry to hear about that but it does explain the cracks. I am new to street bikes and Ducati. It made my stomach sink when I first saw the pictures.
I think NYsport has the right idea about selling the good parts from your engine. Good luck no matter which way you go and keep us posted. Some pictures of the disassembly and reassembly would be great along with your description of the task.

Damn - sorry to see that.
You have decent insurance? Since you were in an accident perhaps its worth a try going to them and say these cracks most likely developed from the crash. I for one don't have the mechanical aptitude to be swapping engines so if it were me in this situation I'd at least try this route.
You mentioned your sliders got banged up in the crash. Wonder if the sliders transferred some of that energy to the engine case causing the crack since they have a rod going through the engine case. But then again, what would your bike (or you) have looked like if you didn't have the sliders?

dealing with the insurance was a nightmare, as usual. The driver didnt have insurance and it turned into a police matter when the convicted felon gave the cops false info. all loss on my end.
probably going to buy the motor in a couple days if all goes well. I will take pics of the takedown and such. good call with parting the motor out guys. i had that in mind.
I will post it when it gets dropped and cleaned in case anyone on here want dibs on parts.
