Smile Not an oil thread...

I need to change the oil (first time I do it myself on the hyper) and can't find the torque value for the drain plug.
Actually I did a search and found conflicting info (31 lb/ft or 38lb/ft?!?), so if anyone knows the correct value, please post it.

Also do you have to go to the dealer to get the crush washer or can you get an equivalent at an auto store?
Lastly how much do you tighten the oil filter. I do flush and then half a turn on my other bikes, will that work?

31 lb/ft for the oil drain plug. I wasn't aware there was a crush washer for this - I just used the washer that was already on there. Looked like a regular washer to me.

For the filter make sure that the old rubber gasket is not stuck to the engine case before you put on the new filter. I think a quarter to half turn past hand tight is fine. You can use K&N filter for the hyper which has a good ol nut on the end so you can torque to spec (9lb/ft I believe.)

31 lb/ft it is then, thanks. I ended up ordering an aftermarket plug to replace that stupid OEM recessed one.

There is a nice Stainless Steel filter available.
