How much time to install DP cams & do timming

Like title says how much time should a dealer charge me to install DP cams, adjust the valves & do the timming of the bike?

If I install them myself what tools do I need? how much do they cost?

I'm adjusting my valves myself & have done the belt with the frequency & I'm use to do mecanic so for me it's more a time & cost issue. If it cost the same (buy the tools & do it Vs have the dealer to do it) since I don't think that I will ever have to remove back the cams it's useless to buy the tool and do it...

Thanks

if you're going to degree the cams upon install (you should since you're already there). The tools from Ducati will cost you nearly $1k. It should take a trained technician apprx 4-5hrs to perform this job.

is it a 4V or 2V?

i have done 2v install, shim and degree in around 4 hours
4 v in around 6-7 depending (desmoquattro more often than not had bad rocker arms to change too)

and a little tuning

I would add its nice to have two dial indicators mounted solidly to the head so no false movement, I made my mounts up and the small forks which sit on the closing shims. Also you will need two locking bolts (8mm)which go in the cam cover to lock the cam (in the notch) when you put the belts on.Also a piston stop and solid pointer and a bunch of shims.

I would say its always better to do it ur yourself. Always within reason of the price of the tools. Good thing is that you can always resell the tools and make some of the money back or you can always install someone elses and charge.

Me personally, I love having tools

There are no instructions. And after talking to two dealers I am convinced they dont have a clue either, I get the impression they just install them and the customer goes "you degreed the cam didnt you ?" they reply "Ya". Probably because it takes a long time to fiddle with the adjustments, no dealer would make much money if they did it correctly 3-5 hrs I would guess.
I would also add that I set mine at 108 ( OEM is 115 ) which seemed to be the setting from previous threads, but I would also say the slightest change in belt tension makes a difference .Probably its best to just make them both exactly the same. Good luck.
