changing the sprocket does not affect the speedometer reading on these bikes because the speedometer is read from the back wheel....

Huh?
Changing the sprocket would change the RPMs at any certain speed no matter where the speedo reads from.
Right?

changing the front sprocket will change the mph reading because the engine is spinning faster with a 14t front sprocket over a 15t sprocket. my guess is about 10 to 15 mph.
just wanted someone with there stock 796 to check for me!!!!

Speedo not affected by sprocket changes. GPS will confirm. This only happens when speedo gets info from Engine sensor on coutershaft, like my FZ1. As Hankin says the Duc sensor is on the rear wheel

Yup, speed sensor is on the back wheel. Easy to spot, just look for the black wire and mag pickup on the swingarm side.

i sure hope to god you guys are kidding!!!!!!!!!
has no one here ever rode a 10 speed bike, its called gear ratios!!!!!!!!!!
yes the speed of the bike in mph will be different then the rpms' when you change a sprocket compared to a stock gear ratio in the same gear !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
one tooth in the front is same a three in the back,so by changing the front down one it makes the engine turn faster then the stock one and the rpm's will be higher to equal the mph
please re-read my question ,lol
