Shift Lever Help [Monster / 1198 / 848 owners]
Hey guys - I'm in winter brainstorming mode. Too many cold nights...
So without getting into the argument of "Is GP / Reverse shift better than standard shift" I have a desire to make the HM GP shift. I don't mind the stock rearsets and really am interested in converting it with as little of an investment as possible.
So my race bike [Suzuki SV 650] has a long enough shift rod that you can just flip the transmission knuckle around and re adjust the length of the rod. Of course with the HM you can't do that.
What would work easily [I'm thinking] is to find a way to get the stock bolt hole on the existing shift lever from the top to the bottom. That way you could use the standard rod, but just 'flip everything upsidown'.
So in a random guess I hit the Ducati OEM microfiche to see if Ducati made any parts like that. From a rough guess it looks as if the '08 Monster shift lever, the '08 848 Shift lever, or the '08 1198 shift lever might accomplish this. The mounting bolts for the lever and for the shift rod are all standard, so I should be able to use any of those levers in place of mine.
So - does anyone on the board own a HM and one of those bikes [or another bike with a bolt hold on the bottom of the shift lever] that would be able to take some pictures, rough guesses, or even try it themselves? I'd rather get some feeling of confidence before going e-bay happy buying up parts.
And besides, it's winter... what else are you going to do in the garage?

So I was in the area and decided to stop by Fast by Ferracci. They had a good selection of Ducati shift levers on their showroom floor - so I took a look.
Long story short - I can't find a way to make it work. The Monster gets really close, but it looks like the lever will be too short and the tab that points down will interfere with the underside of the peg assembly on the hypermotard. ):
Oh well - it was worth a try.

I saw one somewhere. The owner had it fabricated with welding. it looked really clean and easy. Keep searching for it. Might have been on DUCCUTTERS website.

I saw one on here that was fabricated, however I wouldn't say it looked clean. No luck on the DUCCUTTERS website - but you've given me some more hope!

I know this is an old post, but have you figured anything out if you can use other model's levers to make the hyper GP shift?

it is a shame that every direction I go on on this search ends with, "I had no luck and I bought rearsets." It is interesting looking on ebay, a couple rear brake levers look like they might work.

I would never sway someone who wanted to fight the good fight and I wish you the best of luck. Just keep in mind that underneath the lever is a piece of the oil pan [correction - piece from the underside of the foot pegs] that really inhibits placing the joint under the lever.
Keep the thread alive!

Feel free to try- but my guess is the hole for the shift rod will interfere with the footpeg.
