ride height adjustable rod

I'm got one off e-bay for my 796 and have a question.
i plan on setting it at the same length as my stock non adjustable one when i install it.
when im going to set it i was planning on setting it at a half of a inch or a inch higher then the stock non adjustable one measured from the rear tail light to the ground.

so my question is for you guys that have one is do you set it from the number or threads showing? and how much you raised the rear ? and is my idea of a inch or half a inch a good start? whats the best way to set it.

thanks mike

thanks but this has nothing to do with sag,i know how to set that.

this adds more weight to the front end, i can figure it out just wanted to see if anybody has a base line to start with. i searched here and nothing solid and downloaded the manual and it doesnt say anything but to be careful when doing it.

I purchased this book over the holidays and it is great. Andrew Trevitt was the editor of Sport Rider magazine until someome did an illegal U turn up on Hwy 2. He is now paralyzed.

The book has a lot of pictures and detailed explanations. I have been adjusting the suspension on my motocross bikes for years, sag, fork height, clickers, etc. and I have learned a lot. He even discusses chain torque in detail and how sprocket size effects it! Plus it is a signed copy.

update

boy if you want you hyper to handle like it should this item is a must.
my pegs never scrape now, bike flicks over almost like my supermotos did.
feels ten times better. the funny part is i had the preload all the way down to the last threads to get my sag set when it was stock, now i have almost a inch of threads showing when i set my rear sag to 38mm.

this ride height adjustable bar should be stock if you plan on any fast canyon riding!!!!

best 40 bucks i spent on this hyper, even made the front forks feel better too!!

will get that for you tomorrow. my buddy told me to measure from the swingarm to the rear tail.and dont forget i have skate board wheels as sliders in the rear so the measurement will not be the same as yours.what i will do is measure from the ground as well as from the swing arm. i will take some pics to.
what i would like to have done is measure the height of the stock pegs from the ground before and after.
