Passenger Peg Assemby: Remove or ?
Personally, I like the way bikes look without the rear passenger peg assembly. Furthermore, I don't ride with passengers so who needs them?!However, it appears that with my 2010 Hyper that the rear passenger peg assembly also protects your heel from contacting the swing arm, chain(?), and rear brake master. So, my questions are: Do you guys ride with them or without them? Does your heel contact any part of the bike that either damages your boot or bike (I would rather not melt another pair of Sidi's!)? Does anyone make any type of bolt on heel protector so the passenger peg assembly is unnecessary?
Thanks for your input.

Hi DrJ,
personally, I removed those passenger footrests (by purchasing a set of the 1100`s footrest system as my 796 comes with ist proprietary system) and dont`t drive with any protector. So far, I had no problems wearing Sidi´s and a racing suit. However, I´m still thinking about getting a set of carbon protectors as I go with a tex pant sometimes...
Cheers, Marc

I have no protector installed and I do have an area on the pipe where my boot clearly makes contact on occasion. No real noticeable marks on the boot, however.
Plenty of heel protectors on the market for the older hypers, I don't know about the newer model

I kept mine on but removed just the pegs & turned them into ridged peg sliders with delrin, this way I have max protection for the swingarm & other vital parts while still being able to carry a passenger when I need to. Aloha Alex

I used the heel protector from the rear pass pegs and just drilled the hole out bigger and bolted them up to the front pegs.

Or if you really don't care about keeping stock parts, take the dremel or angle grinder to them and modify to make some beefy heel guards. I've been thinking about doing it myself but I still take an occasional passenger.
